The best thing about Navy/military family - we don't forget. This morning, I have swapped notes with over 2 dozen former Pentagon shipmates with whom I shared that day. Some I haven't seen since I left CNO's staff, some are retired 4-stars or separated enlisted petty officers, but it doesn't matter a bit. We got each other through that day and the days that followed, and we did our best work even as we grieved.

I have posted this before, but for new ears...it is so healing. It's the USNA Anchormen in Memorial Hall.

At this very moment, at Nationals Stadium, the USNA Color Guard, Glee Club and Brigade are participating in a 9/11 ceremony at the basebal game. They look sharp.
Hornet flyover. Red Rippers and Jolly Rogers.

Outstanding performance and memorial song.
Thanks Capt MJ for posting it (again)

Capt. MJ,

First, let me say thanks to you and your colleagues in the defense of the greatest country in the world. I watched PA Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue deploy to NYC. I loss a good friend that day from FDNY. You all will never be forgotten, never. My heart goes out to you all.

God Speed and God Bless you and family, RGK

Ran across this video on facebook, beautiful song and video

Thought I was all cried out yesterday. Apparently not. Thank you.

Ditto. There were so many documentaries and shows on this past weekend, many with pictures and videos I had never seen before as well as stories that were not as well known such as the ones posted above. As with so many people, I remember exactly what I was doing and where I was during that time.

PBS aired a 54 minute special on the Pentagon 9/11 story, which I think someone posted in another thread, but here is a link anyway:

My DD, USAFA cadet, posted the following to her Facebook page yesterday. It is a tribute to 9/11 set to the song "Sound of Silence", originally by Simon & Garfunkel, but this one is the remake by the group Disturbed. I always loved the original and have rarely liked remakes of songs, but this one is done very well and (unfortunately for me) elicits a lot more emotion. Warning: Keep tissues handy.

Look up the video "All Available Boats". I can't post the video via mobile app.

Is this the one? "Boatlift," narrated by Tom Hanks.

From YouTube, hit share arrow, copy the link that shows, paste to SAF, while using mobile app. Usually works for me.

That's the one!

Ok, I'll try that next time.

Thank you for sharing.

I know USMMA's boats got involved. They could see it all happening from the vantage point by the chapel.

A few years ago I pitched ESPN to cover CGA v KP on 9/11 for the special reason above and the significance on that day. They declined... Wanted to cover Ohio State.
