I'm a MS1 contracted cadet at UNCC. I have a 285 pft score and am on the ranger challange team. I have a few questions about CULP.

I know it is possible for any contracted cadet to get a slot but there is a bunch of ms2s applying at my school. Do I still stand a good chance?

On the application, it asks if you are attending basic (CIET)/advanced camp ICW(in coordination with) CULP if chosen?
Right now it's unclear if they are going to send contracted MS1s to CIET at my school should I still put yes?

i want to do a mil to mil, so what region is best for that?

Also, I have many language experiences. I have been to the Philippines and before I went I did one Rosetta Stone, but how does the school confirm that? I do not still have my completion certificate. I haven't seen anything about confirmation just list that ask you to put it down. Also, I am taking 2 Farsi classes in college and I have taken 4 Spanish classes through hs.

Chances?

My son attended CULP last year between his freshman and sophomore year. He put down mil to mil and Europe and he was taking Russian language classes. He was selected and got assigned Lithuania but not mil to mil. My advice is to put down what you want and hope for the best.

Thanks for the response. On the application, it shows where you can put your preference of place, but you there is not a spot to prefer mil to mil this year. When you review it though it shows region and type preferred... for me this is Europe/ no preference(for type) is there a certain way to change that

This won't be entirely responsive to your questions, as my familiarity with the CULP process is getting out of date. But I can say that any CULP experience is a broadening one, even eye-opening. It's certainly worth applying for a slot.

In the absence of Fall term GPA as of the date CULP applications go to your brigade, your solid APFT and Ranger Challenge activity should get you a high rank in the initial OML for your class. MS2s will probably get priority, but relatively few contracted MS1s apply for CULP. A couple of years ago a fairly high percentage of applicants got to go. I recall at one school there was at least one cadet who did CULP 3 consecutive years

The military to military missions my son participated in on two different continents involved teaching English to local cadets or NCOs as well as PT and other military training with them, and also travel around the countries. I can't say whether your language experience will come into play in the brigade's selection.

DS did CULP after completion of MSI year. He went to Romania. He was told to use his high school GPA since he did not have a college GPA because applications were due before the end of the first semester. Chances are pretty good if your standings are good (unless things have changed. He is now a MSIV) Good luck. It is a wonderful experience..
