Hi,

I took today's (10/1/16) SAT and feel real good about the scores; I took an SAT prep course this past summer that got my scores (unofficial/in-class test results) up almost 200 points: 1450 range (post 3/2016 SAT). I truly believe today's test will be around that range, if not better.

My senatorial application deadline for submitting a complete packet was today as well. I already sent it in about 2 weeks ago. My congressman's deadline is mid-October. Unfortunately, the 10/1/16 test results won't be available until the 27th of this month.

Is there any way I can convince m senators and congressman to allow this 10/1/16 SAT score to be part of their nomination packet review? Advice/opinions?

Thanks in advance!

Unlikely your MOC will change their deadline just because you THINK you did better on the latest SAT. Schedules for both SAT & ACT's are published over a year in advance, so it isn't a surprise when they take place in relation to the MOC application deadlines. You are one of thousands applying and being organized and following directions is one criteria for this entire application process.

I understand there are deadlines in place and that SAT test schedules being published in advance, but what about the candidate who busts his butt all summer long studying for the test and takes the very first SAT offered in their senior year?

Have there been any other candidates in the past who were in the same boat? Were they able to get an updated test score into consideration before decisions were made for MOC nominations?

Last year's 1st SAT for their senior year was 10/3/15. I'm assuming their MOC deadlines were about the same in early October.

No one here can give you anything other than a guess as to what your MOC might do in this situation. Call your MOC's office in the morning and talk to the folks who can give you definitive answers.

Or wait until you get the your new SAT scores, call your MOC office and ask if you can supplement your package with the new scores.

All of DD's said test must be taken by deadline and scores received before board meets so check with your MOC's directly because they may have similar guidelines. Hers were all very helpful and quick to answer any questions.

My DD is in the same boat. Took the SAT oct 1 and feels she did a lot better. Her congressman's dead line is Nov. 1st so she will be driving those new test scores and hand delivering them, if they're good of course. I believe she is out of luck with the senator's dead line. In her case, she can only hope other things on the application are strong enough to make up for the lower scores.
As far as planning ahead, She had no idea the new SAT would be an easier test for her. She had prepped for the ACT only to find out the new SAT was a better test for herslef. Maybe that was your situation too. The class of 2017 had a big decision with the test change.
