Hello! I would like to introduce my self to this forum. I am a former junior in high school. I'm interested in attending USAFA for the class of 2022. I would appreciate any tips that will keep me informed about the application process and the academy.

Welcome. As a junior in high school, you are following the right steps. Research, Research, and more research. Remember to have back up plans, just in case.

Welcome - lots of worthwhile info here.

First bit of advice is to read every page on USAFA Admissions site, every link, every drop down. Many questions are answered there, and you can start to build the timeline of your path.

Second is to read the Nominations sticky in that forum here on SAF. Ditto Acronyms sticky.

Third, search on "chance me" and "stats" threads here on SAF. There is no magic formula for successful candidate profiles, but you will see common themes, such as Boys'/Girls' State programs, etc.

Fourth, concurrently research your Plan B options, such as AFROTC scholarships. If your goal is to be an Air Force officer, the prudent candidate stacks the deck for maximum bombs on target.

Fifth, do at least survey-level research on the other 4 Federal Service Academies and officer careers, to determine if you want to one-track it toward Air Force officer career or are open to other service careers.

Sixth, get familiar with your MOC service academy nomination process. Attend any info sessions, even if it's a year early. Ditto any Service Academy info sessions. Explore attendance at the Service Academy summer programs for the summer between HS junior and senior year.

Information is power!

Seventh, get yourself organized for success in whatever way works for you, as the data, info, notes, deadlines, emails, etc., start to pile up.

Edit: I admit to being confused by the "former junior" term. I don't if that means you are a senior now and didn't apply for 2021, so perhaps some of my advice above is OBE. (overcome by events)

Thank you for the welcoming guys, and I appreciate the advice given to me. :)

My mistake

We are still wondering! It's easier to provide specific advice if forum posters know what you currently are - HS senior who has/has not applied? Someone who skipped senior year and is now in college? Homeschooler taking both HS and college courses? Why 2021 is not your target?

It's a typo mistake. I am a junior in high school not a senior. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I hate to be that one guy, but I'm brand new to this forum and I'm wondering how to start my own forum. Thanks.

Do you mean a thread on this forum, a new discussion string? I am on the iPhone app right now, so I would go to Browse, find the forum or sub-forum that fits the question I want to ask. Tap the menu dots in the upper right.

There may be a required number of posts to start a thread, but I don't know.
