Congrats, BUT what are your other options. You said that air force is your number 1. Did you also apply to navy, army, etc? What is that status? You have until april to accept the prep school. That's good. That gives you time. If you also applied to navy and army, and they offer you an APPOINTMENT, you should seriously consider accepting one of those. "Assuming you don't mind either other branch".
Receiving a prep school offer is not a guarantee. It does mean that there's no way they will offer you an appointment THIS CYCLE. But as a preppie, there is a 75%ish chance you WILL receive an appointment next year. But that's NOT a GUARANTEE. Just extremely really good odds. On the other hand, if you applied to navy, army, coast guard, and merchant marine; and you don't mind any of those; and they offer you an actual APPOINTMENT, I'd say you should really consider accepting that. Best of luck.
Listen to the lawn dart driver...er...Viper...er...In prep school class of 2016 more than 80% who started received appointments. I've never had a classmate or anyone else say they regret attending the prep school. If USAFA #1 choice go to prep and it'll help you at the academy. Take it and good luck

I thought it was really early to hear back about prep school. Is this unusual? I have applied to other academies. Thanks everyone![/QUO
