Why would people want to cross-commision? If they wanted to go another branch they should've just applied to the other academy.
A classmate of mine during our 2dig simmer went to the USN "Frogman" school. Actually I think it was called UDT.
It was a LONG summer program; I think 7 weeks; as opposed to the typical 3 weeks.
He came back 20lbs lighter and totally AMAZED by the cadre. What was the course?
BUDS. Yes, the "preliminary" to SEAL training.
Do I have to go on? On graduation day he was in navy whites...
Last I saw him he was a Captain, SEAL, and I think was headed to command the teams in VA. Or the puzzle palace. A friend in the USN said he's headed toward his stars.

Ohh never mind. That's pretty tough. 13 made it through, but how many tried to transfer? I doubt more than 30 people want to get out of the usafa in any given year. Also, out of a class of 950, 28-29 are allowed to go into medical school. So technically, it is almost as tough as getting into medical school (perhaps less tough) from the academy.
I dont know, though. I would have to see all of the numbers before drawing any conclusions.
Let me clarify your medical school numbers because they are not correct. There are about 28 medical FIELD slots. That includes three nurses, three dentists, 18 doctors, and 4 slots for something else I can't remember. For the class of 2010, only 16 were endorsed for doctor slots, three applied and were endorsed for the nurse slots, and none applied for dentist. One of the 16 for doctors is GPA dependent (which will not be met and the slots will really only be 15). I am one of the 15 that received a doctor slot.
That includes three nurses
What kind of GPA do you need to compete for the medical slots? I guess I mean doctor in specific.
....I was assuming with what the air force academy admissions board clearly states- sending "up to 3% to medical school." Don't blame me for the misinformation, but thanks. And congratulations, that's such an accomplishment! How many people applied to those 16 (15) spots? and why wont that 16th spot be met? because his/her gpa is much lower than number 15 that there is no way of surpassing it and taking it away from that person?
Again- congratulations! And what do you hope to specialize in?
Hornetguy - you can go to nursing school out of the AFA? I had heard that but didn't know for sure.
How does that work? Do they go get their BSN/MSN?
