What to have do before end of school?

Hi I have been working diligently to get my application in as early as possible, and I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what I need to have done before school is up.

especially for letters of recomendation: I have asked for my recs from math and english teachers, but when can I get more information to them?

Also, when will the essays, (etc) part of the application become available?

i'm just getting nervous because I want to be the most competitive applicant possible....
 
Get your teacher's email addresses. A math teacher, English teacher, and other teacher. Preferably ones who know you well and like you. The letters of recommendation are done through email with the USAFA application. Have you contacted your ALO? Establish contact and show interest in the USAFA. He/she will interview you and be a huge part of your application.
Also, contact your members of Congress. Get the info you need to apply for a nomination.
Get in shape for the CFA. Do a practice run though and find your weak areas and work on them. Continue to build your strong areas.
Compile a resume, since you will need it for the USAFA application, and the nomination packets for your senators/congressman.
Take and retake the ACT/SAT as many times as needed. The USAFA will superscore each section, so it is your advantage to take it as many times as affordable.
The rest of the app will show up soon enough online. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just have a way to contact your teachers so you can get those letters over the summer.
When the app does come up, get it done ASAP. Get your nomination stuff in early, it looks good. If you get your USAFA app done soon enough, you will be looked at for a Letter of Assurance, which basically guarantees you a nomination and acceptance to the Academy.
ENJOY your summer, but stay out of trouble.

the candidate kit will become available to you online july 1st. That includes forms, essays, resume stuff, teacher recommendations, CFA form, everything. Like Matt said, MAKE SURE you can contact your teachers over the summer so they can fill things out when you need them too. And one of the three recommendation letters (they're only used for congressional noms btw, USAFA doesn't use essays but forms) could also be from a coach or mentor, just someone who knows you well and is a good writer. I used my pastor i think. Either way, just get things done as soon as you can. Then you have more time to enjoy your last year at home. Biggest advice any one of us can give you though? DON'T BE STUPID! ha. Good Luck!

I bought it and it helped me immensely.

One other thing... look for leadership positions in clubs/sports next year. You can always update your app after it is finished, and the review board will take another look at it.

I am currently reading that book. I read the first two sections (How to Get In and How to Prepare) and it is very informative. I am finding it to be quite enjoyable to read. So like packermatt mentioned, I would recommend to buy the book and read it.

I think most of us here have read it more than a few times. Definitely good to reread it multiple times. I think I will read the last section the last few days before I leave again. Just a refresher. ha
