I got a 1290 M+CR, and I think the average this year was just under 1300.

I know a real great candidate (sports, JROTC and high GPA) that is wait listed and is a minority that scored a 1270 SAT, the scores are very high this year!

Just under 1200

I know a candidate that got an "early admission" appointment with just under 1200 (math and english) with an overall of 1870.

I believe the secret to his success was having a strong record across the board that helped him overcome the lower scores (by USCGA standards):

First, applied for early admission and demonstrated a total committment to accept appointment if granted, then:

1. 3.88 GPA in all advanced classes
2. Captain of a varsity team
3. PT scores between 270 and 280
4. Great essays
5. His teachers love him, so I expect his recommendations were good.

Must admit, he was pleasantly surprised by early acceptance given the typical USCGA averages on the test which he took three times trying to improve.

Bitt,

I know it isn't counted, but what was your SAT writing score? Did you get in EA? Did you go to AIM? -officer

I applied, but wasn't selected for EA and I did not go to AIM. My writing was 790, but I don't believe that they factor that much at all into your application. I could be wrong, though. :thumb:
