I was wondering about injuries?

If you get injured during Basic training, you are sent home and may return the following year, correct?

How about if you are injured your 4th class year after completion of BCT? What happens?

First off, let's get something straight. This is the military: "Injuries and Illnesses are NOT authorized". If they want you injured, they'll do it to you.

Seriously; you are correct that during basic, if you get injured "AND MISS MORE THAN "X" amount of days of BCT", you'll be sent home. You will still have a slot available to you next year, ASSUMING that your injury has been healed/corrected and the medical review board clears you.

As for once you enter school; you can literally break your leg skiing and still go to classes and continue on. The caveat with this answer however is that the injury is not a PERMANENT injury that can't be fixed, or fixed to the military's satisfaction to allow you to perform your duties as a cadet and eventually as an officer. But that is THEIR CALL; not yours. Hope that answers it. Good luck; Mike....

always wondered that like you said if you miss "x" amount of days during BCT you are sent home and you will be given another shot the following year, but what does that entail? Are you sent to prep school or continue classes at a community college? Do you have to go through application process again?? jw....

They recommend you enroll in a community college or full college and take math, science, etc.... to keep up and not let yourself backslide. But you don't have to do anything if you don't want to. You don't go to a prep school or anything. You're on your own. later.... mike....

oh wow....that surprises me. Thanks for the info CC!

Yeah, I've got a strained hip flexor and have been out for a while. Its still hurting pretty good, but I'm going to start running again tomorrow. I doubt it will heal before BCT, but I'll push through it.

So, everyone else, be thankful you are still healthy and have been able to run/get in shape... All while I've been sitting here wishing my leg would heal

Last year there was a young man who tripped getting off the bus on Rday...he messed up his knee. He was told if it was ok he could come back this year. Does anyone remember him? Is he OK to come back?

The only thing I know about him was that the "Falling" off the bus isn't what messed up his knee. That simply re-injured an existing knee problem he already had. He was never really a poster on any of the forums, so the only way to know is to wait until some of those posting currently get to bct and let us know if they run into him. Just like I'm sure we'll here from the posting cadre and later on the cadets who post here, about the young man from texas who's become a celebrity in his local newspapers; and now with almost every current cadet. That's the biggest thing about info on the forums. There's a small number of current cadets, past cadets, active/retired military, and parents posting on the forum. Percentage wise, it's very small.
