i have some questions about the citadel.
-how much will the summer program help me? (in terms of physical fitness, knowledge, and so forth)
-how often do you run normally?
-can i take my supplements? (vitamins, protein, fish oil, prohormones, ect.)

thanks for any help.

I've heard mixed reviews about the summer program. For some it made transitioning into knob year easier, and for others it wasn't the best investment; however, during the summer program you will be engaging in physical fitness, getting ahead in knob knowledge, completing 3-4hrs of college credit, and moving into the regimen of military life.

You will be on the move all the time whether you are in physical training or walking from class or to your room. In regards to pt, during the first few weeks you will have a lot of company runs, especially during Hell Week.

You are allowed to take supplements with you and I highly recommend them.

I know cadets that turned out to be outstanding that didn't attend the summer program and I know cadets who attended the summer program that turned out to lack the proper discipline of what makes the better trained cadet. It depends on how much you're going to put into it.

Here's my advice: Knob year is a long and treacherous journey. Times have changed and the Corps is no longer nearly as brutal as it used to be, but The Fourth Class System will challenge you. I guarantee it. If it doesn't, then I stand corrected. When/if you decide to step through Lesesne Gate you will immediately witness the change within yourself and your classmates as you endure The System.

There are those who will lack the willpower and determination to carry out their Knob duties to the fullest extent. You will know exactly what I mean by this once you arrive. I ask that you/any incoming knobs not cheat yourself out of 9 months of your life. Think of this 9 months as an opportunity of a lifetime to prove to yourself that you can tread the road less travelled. You must stay consistently motivated to overcome The System.

There will be things that piss you off. Some in your chain of command may not see that for some reason it is not fit for you to take your supplements. I highly doubt this will be the case, but you just never know. If you want to help prepare yourself for Knob Year, get used to not having things your way. Get used to things not going according to plan which will in turn force you to have multiple back up plans and use your time wisely.

Regimental/company runs don't necessarily last through the whole year, they are more consistent during Cadre (first few weeks of school). Regardless, if you don't think your stamina is where it should be then I urge you to train harder. The harder you train now, the easier it will be during Knob Year.

Brace yourself for one heck of a year.
