Son, hubby and I had dinner with two very impressive young officers tonight. They gladly shared their academy experience as well as their current experiences as officers in the CG. They were bright, engaging and completely inspiring! I must say, I see a trend. Everyone we have had the pleasure of coming in contact with, be it Academy Admissions folks (AAP's too Luigi!), current officers, and those current cadets who post here, all share some pretty admirable traits....they are most giving of their time, exhibit a willingness to listen and give good advice, and they go out of their way to help out a kid (and his family) as he prepares to step into a very different sort of life. In this day and age, one doesn't often see these traits in "kids" who have only just graduated from college pretty recently!

I am even more sure than I was before....my kid is headed for a great experience, and we as parents are going to be privileged to watch from a distance as he takes on new challenges and adventures. And though he will stumble and fall, I am confident that those around him will help him find his way.

24 days....!

Thanks for sharing Shellz. How did you have the opportunity to dine with these fine officers?

Our son interviewed with one of the officers here in California. After he received his appointment, the invitation to meet for dinner was extended. It was great to meet another local future swab who also attended the dinner.

It's gloomy here in Cali this morning, but the prevailing mood is bright and sunny! :thumb:

Have a great day!
