I'd like to wish the entire class of 2013 who is getting ready to depart for Colorado Springs, the best of luck. You are going to have an exciting adventure and it will be well worth it.
See, my generation is old. We were preparing with things more like this below. Unfortunately, we didn't have Youtube, because Al Gore hadn't invented the internet yet.
But I remember those days that seem so long ago, yet just like yesterday. The Vietnam war had only recently ended. The country was divided. Half the people still cared and respected the military and what it stood for; the other half didn't want to have anything to do with the military or it's soldiers/sailors/airmen. Signing up was not very popular in 1978. But I remember when a lot of people were asking me WHY???? My grandfather let me listen to an 8-Track (YES, 8-track) of the following 2 items. Granted, I didn't have the video portion, but it still made me feel good. And then it all seemed right.

Oh, and while we're at it, get use to this after every home football game.

You all take care of yourselves. It's been an honor to chat with each and every one of you as you progressed through the different stages of the application process. I know the anxiety you feel. Some of you feel like you want to puke. I jut want to say how proud I am of each of you; for working so hard to get to where you are; as well as being willing to serve your country. The years go by quickly. Enjoy every moment of it. Enjoy the next 12 days of your life before basic. And don't forget to check back in August on "A" day and let us know how you're doing. Best of luck.... Mike......
