So if it didn’t update, I didn’t get anything, correct?
Thank you! We are all very excited! Congratulations to all others!Congratulations!3 yr winner just posted!
Did his status ever change?I just got an email saying that my DS was not selected for a 3 or 4 year scholarship, but was offered an ECP Scholarship to one of the Junior Military Colleges (which he is not interested in). Onward and upward! Congrats to all winners!
No, it remains at Boarded/UC.Did his status ever change?I just got an email saying that my DS was not selected for a 3 or 4 year scholarship, but was offered an ECP Scholarship to one of the Junior Military Colleges (which he is not interested in). Onward and upward! Congrats to all winners!
Gotcha. The board notifies the winners all at one time, if your status wasn't changed then you didn't win anything. That's what I learned when my packet went to the last one. If you really want to be an army officer then go above and beyond the expectations of a non-contracted cadet and hope you'll be given an on-campus scholarship. Remember that the majority of people who commission through ROTC didn't enter the program with a scholarship, they earned it.How do you know you were not selected? No scholarship, I knew that my packet wasn't that competitive to be honest.
So what happens to the scholarship winners that decline? Do they have a stack of wait list candidates? DS will decline his AROTC and AFROTC scholarship. Will those that still have boarded/UC be in line for those?
I think, but am not certain, that that money goes out to the schools for campus based offers. I may be completely wrong.
Moral of my story is, don't think since you haven't been awarded a national scholarship that it's over, because it isn't. Be open minded about those smaller universities, they have amazing programs and their selection pool is a bit smaller. Best of luck!
I have been following this forum since 2013 and have learned a ton. One DS was offered a 3yr AD at 2 schools but after visiting them, he didn't think it was the right fit. So he transferred the scholarship to another university that wasn't huge but has proven to be one heck of a great college. He graduates and commissions in May. DS#2 applied AROTC and wasn't awarded but was offered a campus based scholarship at the same school. After he made his decision to go there he was then contacted a month later (June) and offered a campus based scholarship at another school he visited in March. He is currently a MS100. I just won a 3 year scholarship!
I'm a little worried however as IWeigh about 10 pounds more than the maximum weight for my height for the army requirement.
This won't have any affect on my scholarship will it?
You will have to pass the DoDMERB medical exam. I don’t know the standards for being “overweight” ... you may have to get a body mass index done. They will tell you.
Also, you will have to pass the Army PFT before your scholarship will start.
