Hey all you seasoned folks out there.....tell me about the class Anchorman.
(History, background, criteria, how to earn the honor, is it an honor, when presented etc. etc.)

I have seen it mentioned but not in any detail......even on the USMMA site........Thanks!

Good thing~the anchorman graduates!:thumb:
Bad thing~His or her mom sweats it the most cause they are the last in that class to graduate.

The anchorman is the midshipman who has attained the rather dubious honor of graduating with the lowest GPA in the class. At other academies, tradition dictates that the anchorman receive one dollar from each of his classmates. I asked D/S if KP observes this tradition and he said dollar is presented in the form of 100 pennies. That would be about twenty seven thousand pennies.

Oh my.... I thought it was something different..... maybe like the student that was viewed as the most steady (anchor).... in any event, thanks for the update and info.

The person is still a graduate and that is fantastic!

Like the old saying goes:
"what do you call the student that graduates last in their class from Medical School? Answer: Doctor! "

Really dumb question: What is D/S (I know it is your midshipman, but assume the D/S is short for something)

Bad on parents is an understatement!!! We won't know until Friday if our D/S will graduate. Passed the Coast Guard Exam first try....passed his classes....still waiting on the BFP and PT test. BFP will be tomorrow and he should pass. PT on Thursday...can do the Push-up's and sit-ups...can't do run due to knee injury. Has a medical, however, there not saying they will accept the medical until Thursday. Also, D/S has never failed a PT test while there.

It has taken the fun out of graduation week!!!:frown:

I know D/S and D/D but what test is BFP? I think it will be a long 4 years (but exciting at the same time)

In my grandfather's graduation ceremonies, the list of graduates are listed by class rank making it obvious who is last

Most likely referring to the Body Fat analysis....

Unfortunately/fortunately they don't list the class by rank anymore at graduation. If they do things as usual the Magna Cum Laude, Summa Cum Laude, and Cum Laude graduates will be in order and then the rest are alphabetical.

But you WILL know who the anchor is.......he/she is the Mid that is carrying about the gigantic, heavy bag :yllol:

Wolfe834~if you didn't see it, it meant that you were there, right? We've been thinking of you in the last week! Hope all is well!:thumb:

Oh yeah...He Walked! We didn't know until Thursday night at 1730 that he had passed all the PT issues...but he did. It's over....we don't have to worry about that anymore. Thanks for all the thoughs and prayers!

You know...it's a real kicker to know that you pass the classes, pass the license exam and almost didn't get to graduate because of his size. I'm going to be like Forrest Gump and say...."That's all I got to say about that" :thumb:
