Should Cadet Candidates have "information" memorized before reporting to CBT? If so, where is such "information" found?

Maybe that ethics book?

Otherwise it would help to start learning basic military things such as rank and unit sizes but it's not really needed because they will teach it to you.

If you choose to do this, you would be wise to keep it to yourself that you have done so. Already knowing useful info (i.e. how much water is in the lake, where milk comes from, etc), and then spouting it off will draw unwanted attention to yourself. When it comes to "special attention," the key is to fly under the radar.

Don't read the ethics book its a waste of time. Enjoy your last 2 weeks.

Memorize the small miniscule facts they might ask. Try and find the most rediculous facts and memorize those.

Read the ethics book since you paid for it.

Read everything West Point sends to you. Last year they sent a poster with the ranks - if you don't know then then learn them. Read and watch everything West Point sends to you. go on the admissions website and watch the CBT videos.

i've been told a handful of different things on what's good to know coming in and stuff. i've been told multiple times to figure out the "Cadet in the Red Sash" deal ahead of time so i can hopefully move through it without much trouble on R-Day.

on a side note: does anyone else feel like there's the glaring absence of an editor for that ethics book? i'm reading it with a pen in hand to correct punctuation...it's driving me crazy. i'm not a grammar elitist, but i'm a bit of a stickler...i was gonna be an english major, but then i got accepted into WP :shake:

Are new cadets still issued Bugle Notes? That small book had all the stuff we had to learn crammed into it. The definition of leather, how is the cow, how many gallons in Lusk Reservoir, how many lights in Cullum Hall, the third verse of the national anthem, Scott's fixed opinion, etc. That brings back some memories! Scary that my wife (also a grad) and I can spout it off 20+ years later!

You will be happy to know Bugle Notes are alive and well! My oldest gave me his very well thumbed copy as a gift after graduation. It is one of the first items they are issued, and duirng R-Day you can observe the new cadets with thier nose buried in the book as they wait in various lines...

What do plebes rank?

"Sir, the Superintendent's dog, the Commandant's cat, the waiters in the Mess Hall, the Hell Cats, the Generals in the Air Force, and all the Admirals in the whole damned Navy."

Acknowledge Statement - My wife helped me remember this piece of Plebe poop. One of the benefits of being married to another grad. (We can also drive our kids crazy!)

Unofficial knowledge - Why is the sky blue?

Because God loves the Infantry! :yllol:

Oh, wait, am I not supposed to respond to your posts?

Hm, we learned it as simply "Blood, blood, blood makes the grass grow!"
