Are any of you having "going away" parties for your sons/daughters before they leave ? If so, share your ideas as to what you are doing.

I'm sure every parent is going to organize a going away party for their kid (or at least some kind of final gathering). I know I have two planned. My mom is taking care of one which will be with the family and I have no clue what it will be and the other will be the whole day out with my friends ending with the premier of transformers 2 and them spending the night.

Same... Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, then IHOP.

Having my family and a few of my friends over on the 19th. My house isn't big enough to have volleyball or anything like that, so we'll probably just hang out inside.

We had a large open house (over 200 people) from past teachers, coaches, friends, church folks, family at a local hotel. One thing that turned out great--we layed out a book with boat stencils, markers and pens and everyone drew a boat and wrote an encouraging note to our son.....the book was smaller than 8x10, spiral (picked it up at an art supply store). During the Academic year he can refer to it and be encouraged.

He initially did not want a party (didn't want the attention), but then after he was on board with it wanted the whole blue & gold, anchor theme. Afterwards, he hugged us and told us it was definitely worth it and it was great to have everyone there in one place.

Common flyersboy, a ankle sprain? Really? And your a flyers fan?
Just kidding, best of luck flyboy! Represent Philly well.:shake:

I had my party last Saturday. I had about 15 friends over and then my mom and I invited over 40 family members and neighbors. I have a pool, so we swam, played soccer and basketball, and then once my guy friends left...we watched Bride Wars on pay per view lol. I didnt go all out with a coast guard theme but it was still a nice party and it was great to see all of my family on last time before I leave. I would definitely have the party if you can

I had a nice graduation party on graduation day, June 6. Typical party with lots of food and corn hole. Very nice turn out of friends and family friends. This upcoming Tuesday night (23rd, last night home) I plan to have a final going away dinner. It'll be a smaller group of friends, mainly though because there are lots of people out of town.
