All NROTC-specified and Naval Science courses will be taken for a letter grade.
Thanks so much for the info. As usual you are a wealth of knowledge and where to find the correct info! Much appreciated. My DD gave me her answer but being the worried mom had to check.I found this here: http://www.netc.navy.mil/nstc/NSTC_Directives/forms/Appendix B - Quick Reference Guide to NROTC Standards.pdf

As I read this all required NROTC courses including Calculus, Physics, Naval Science, other math courses, required English courses, and anything else I may have missed (there ARE others) must be taken for a letter grade. Others, such as underwater basket weaving can be taken pass/fail. I expect if there is grade challenges it might very well be in one of the tougher required courses, especially calculus and physics. Most units offer tutoring for those particular topics, so if one senses they are in trouble they should seek out that resource.
