Hi All,

Sorry I've been gone for a bit. I've missed the friends I made here. An update - my daughter didn't get her waiver for myopia, so she's attending a civilian college and is going to move forward with the USMC PLC program. As some of you may recall she had her nom, her LoA, everything but a waiver for her eyesight.

So she is doing PLC, while reapplying to USNA as a first choice, also applying to USAFA and USMA. But will move forward with PLC so as to not lose time or momentum should she fail to get the waiver the second time.

I've been out because a few weeks ago I was riding my motorcycle on the SF Bay Bridge and was rear ended by a mercedez who didn't know better than to hit motorcyclists and didn't know to stop once you hit them. My recovery is almost complete, just a little difficulty with my right arm still, but that should be better in a couple of more weeks.

In the meantime, we've been dealing with the Code Pinkers at the USMC office in Berkeley which is where my daughter is doing her PLC.

As a former Marine I've been there a lot recently myself and recently donated a very high end CCTV system to them to help with their pink plague.

It appears the Code Pinkers have recently singled me out and are on the attack. Pretty funny really. They call me old, mean, fat and white. The lady who called me that is the same race as me, probably about 15 years older than me, I would guess about 60 pounds heavier, and as for the mean part, well, I do have a mean streak, so maybe she was right on that one. But I never attacked them as they walked down the street, so I would say they are meaner.

They blogged about our last confrontation here: http://codepinkjournals.blogspot.com/2009/07/mr-brown-goes-to-mrs.html

So there is an update, I have some traveling to do next week, then will be back in town and look forward to getting on the boards again.

Good on you for forcing them to make lame excuses for their behavior! Curiosity what is it with the Bryant /Brown/Brynt comment?
We hear them mumble something kinda irritably about a “Brian” or a “Bryant” again....This Mr. Brynt or Mr. Brown
How is it that they can write a blog about it, but have 4 names(Brian, Bryant, Brynt and Brown)? Were they listening or being so antagonistic that they could not hear your answer, and not so naive as they pretend on the blog? Did I read it wrong?

What I found most interesting was there was no acknowledgement that police disbanded them and that they left because of jbrown calling the police! If that is even true according to code pink.

So now jbrown gives us the real goop! Did a potential military recruit take a flyer and read it or step on it in front of them? Were they just barely leaning on the car or encompassing it?

One tall, creamy chocolate handsome fellow hesitates, returns, looking over our literature and chooses the “Alternatives to the Military” pamphlet (of which we only have a couple left). I hope fervently he finds one.

what about this quote from your side
Four more endangered youth approach the station. Again they say a special forces guy is here indicating they can’t talk now but will later; now they have to be on their best behavior – he’s a role model. I ask them to explain and one of the cockiest mentions with that special boy comradely smirk something about the number of enemy this self-inflated muck-a-muck has picked off single-handedly.

Sorry, but I don't see a special forces recruiter siding with them, call me naive!

When I walked out to my car to put something in it, they said "thanks for doing that Mr. Bryant"

And I said, excuse me? They repeated it.

Then I said, (1) why must you thank me for putting my own property into my own car, and (2) my name isn't Bryant.

They asked, some of the kids called you Mr. Bryant, and I said, no, it's Brown.

I also didn't count down to 3. What i did was when they got to about 5" from my face asking about how does it feel to be a killer of innocents, I held up my 3 fingers and said "do you see these", they said "what" and I said "do you see these" she said "yes".

I said "good, that is how many seconds you have to get out of my face, before you get removed from my face against your will".

The blog they posted is so full of inaccuracies, it's almost funny.

They are also practicing witchcraft. They were casting spells on me and my crew and it was all just very bizzarre.

I think they singled me out because I'm older than the rest, I've accompanied a number of youngsters in to meet with the Marines, and oh, I also had a large quantity of bumper stickers made that said "I Support the US Marines in Berkeley, Ca." with the USMC E,G&A on it. I was giving them away for free to anyone who wanted to show their support. I gave out about 250 of them in only an hour or two.

So I think by counter protesting them all by my lonesome and getting all of my decals asked for and no one wanted to talk to them, I think it made me a target of theirs.... fun stuff.

What a hoot! Talk about having nothing better to do...how ironic (and quite sad), that soldiers gave their lives so these nuts have the right to protest in front of the MRS.

Want to hear something really funny. An employee of mine (Clay) was installing a couple of cameras on the front of the building. There is a nest there with a dove in it.

They shouted at me that they performed a "ritual" and the dove appeared out of nowhere, what do I think of that?

I replied "maybe he wanted to feel safe, so he nested next to the defenders of freedom"

They started shouting and cursing, very bad stuff. Then they walked up the bottom of Clay's ladder and said what do think of that, we chanted a spell and he appeared out of nowhere. Clay said "sounds like witchcraft to me", wouldn't that make you a witch? Boy that got them going.

Then they shouted at me, you killed people in other countries, how does that make us safe, and we've never been attacked, Mr. Brown, answer us, when were we ever attacked?

So my response was "well, let's put 9/11 aside for a second and start with more distant history - War of 1812? does that ring a bell (response they just wanted their country back) Then I said "Pearl Harbor", (response, they had it coming to them for stealing someone elses country.

That was the point where they got 5" from my face and the three fingers incident happened.

It was very weird. I'm going to be there again on the 22nd, it should be intersted to see how that day goes. I'll bring another 250 bumper stickers with me.

DS was sent an acceptance letter, merit scholarship and dorm package info from STANFORD (he never applied, never sent in an application, all he had to do was sign the paperwork, got it from UNCCH also) We asked him if he would like to go there, esp. since it was as close to an IVY as you could get. He said not only NO, but HE** NO, because he didn't want to be with the California Crazies!

California and San Fran are great places to visit, but I could not live with their anti-military views day in and out as a wife and a mom.

One thing to say about No VA, they love the military and even the libs want DOD spending because most of them either work for the DOD, COntractors (Booze, SAIC, Raytheon) or they have someebody that they love who does!

I'll reply more later it's a little hard from my phone

but I'm only one mile fron Stanford and should your son
change his mind there are quite a few sane ones and conservatives
in the area, and I would be happy to host/ sponser him. He'd be welcome
at our table anytime

He won't change his mind, that happened in 08, and he chose Gov and politics scholars on the East Coast with a great AF det, full ride and interning in DC, he will be doing it at the hill or the Pentagon this winter as a soph.

Code Pink is such a wonderful organization that they used to (still do?) protest outside of Walter Reed Army Medical Center. They loved to show up when wounded soldiers were arriving. Definitely one of my least favorite organizations.

What I found most interesting was there was no acknowledgement that police disbanded them and that they left because of jbrown calling the police! If that is even true according to code pink.

No I didn't call the police. They got that wrong too. I was on the phone with my wife during a trip to my car, so they must have made an assumption.

Yes, he did take a flyer. The part where they write that the recruits all started to pour out - well, they had just returned from PT and were heading for lunch. My daughter is one of them, and she turned to one of her pals, and said grab one of their flyers so we can have a good laugh at lunch. So one of them did. And from what I'm told, he is creamy and handsome, so maybe they got that right. I'm not a good judge of good looking men, so I'll take their word for it.

There was no special forces recruiter there. She was referring to one of the recruits telling her they were all there because of a special forces guy was visiting. Presumably she was referring to me, since I was the only guest, but I was there because of the camera system I donated. The code pinkers think they know alot about me, and are trying to fill in the blanks, and are getting a very strange story by doing so. For example, they write that they got into their dress blues because I was there. Well, they didn't get into full blues, only modified blues (khaki shirt, blue trousers), and it was because the Major was stopping by later. Also, the hustle and bustle, was just that there was a good size group of youngsters there that day to PT.

The Code Pinkers are targeting me because they know I'm former USMC, they've seen me a number of times come in with youngsters to introduce them to the USMC and their programs, and by the way, the 1/2 asian girl they refer to me bringing in a month or so ago, was me and my daughter.

The leaning on the car, the first time the Capt did tell them to get away from the car, they were leaning against the back of it, and it appeared they may be trying to remove my chrome auto emblems (1 is a ribbon that says support our troops, the other is a ribbon that says USMC), both are very nice chrome versions of the standard ribbons you see all over. When I caught them later on it (they say the big man himself came out), it was because two of them were on the back of my car trying to pull on the emblems and there was a guy with them holding sign trying to hide what they were doing.

Any other questions about what they wrote, let me know I'll try to make sense out of it.

Haha. I like the second comment after it.
I'd join Code Brown Group. :)

Yeah, but you have to say Code Brown Group - being married to Corpsman, I know what Code Brown is, and I don't think I would start a group called that...., so you gotta add something else to it so it's not the same as in the hospitals, it could be used against us in a propaganda war.

Glad to hear you are OK. Happier to hear that you are standing up well against Code Pink.

Doesn't surprise me to hear the inmates are still trying to run the asylum at Berkeley. I graduated 25 years ago after watching the circus there.

In my day, I remember when Jeanne Kirkpatrick came to speak on campus, the locals shouted her down and nobody from the administration would move a muscle to remove any of the rabble rousers. And of course the Daily Californian was there to praise the knuckleheads' efforts at the home of the "Free Speech Movement".

IIRC the ROTC building was the target of arson as well.

My roommate in the dorms was NROTC and had a very thick skin to deal with it.

My credit to your daughter!

Thanks,

I'm really proud of her, and of the other youngsters. They walk right past these protesters for the lack of a better word, to go in, meet with the Marines and work out. Then they walk right passed them again to go to lunch as a group, and back after lunch to do pullups and more PT.

They do this 3 days a week. My daughter is the youngest at 17 (for 9 more days), the rest are between 21 and 23, and determined to be USMC Officers.

Very impressive young men and women.

Have to say this was the most offensive comment

we now recognize as Bryant’s: the older, fat and mean white man who brought a young half Asian woman into the station a couple of months ago to be recruited. At that time, he screamed at her and us not to talk to her, as she was a minor – his minor apparently – yet he was bringing her in to be recruited. Shame

I was offended in so many ways
1. The insinuation that Asians were subservient
2. An icky feeling (go with that where you want), but older white man with a young female is meant to give a shock value. Add on his minor (go back to 1)
3. Implying your were forcing her to her death like a concentration camp by bringing her to a recruiter because she was your minor and point 1.

Those are how I perceived just these sentences. I know they are not true, but let's take a young Berkeley student and how they bite off on propaganda!
How they will read that blog as truth. That scares me more than anything else. I feel like we are in the early 20th century dealing with yellow journalism. Screw the facts, just lets take our opinion as fact when it comes to the military.

Now lets take the same scenario.
A man that brought in his daughter several months ago, showed up today with her again, he screamed above our chanting so his DD could hear him "to pay no attention", he then quickly ushered her into the building.
Where would be the fun in that for them? Same scenario, just mine was not meant to inflame people based on over the top exaggerations. Mine was the reality, theirs was fantasy!

There you go, the new motto for Code Pink:
Screw the real truth what we state is the new truth!

Bless your DD for serving and bless you to continue carrying the military torch after you had the chance to leave forever, more than anything thank you for not backing down when you were the minority

Yeah, I remember that confrontation as well, it was about 6 weeks ago or so. My wife, daughter and I had just finished having lunch, and stopped by to talk to the Marines about their program.

There was a code pinker there who was trying to block my wife and daughters path to the office as I was paying for the parking meter. The meters there are credit card machines and you put the receipt on your dash.

My wife looked at me, and after 20 years of marriage, we don't have to speak to know what we need. Her eyes were asking for help. So I quickly came over, and said in a stern voice "step away from my family", the response was "I have a right to free speech" And I responded "yes you do, and I'll defend that for you if someone tries to remove it", but "step away from my family and let them pass"

The response was "you are trying to remove my freedom of speech, I have a right to speak" And I replied with, "yes you do, but you don't have a right to speak to my daughter"

They then got out of the way and let us pass, there were some chants and comments made to us, but had free passage.

About a week later, my daughter had shared details of the PLC program with some of her classmates, and they expressed an interest in hearing about it, so with their parents permission, I accompanied them to the office over the next few weeks so they can meet with the Marines as well.

And yes, I read the same meaning into their words that you did. If I didn't know better, I would be offended. But they are just crazies. I had one of them tell me that 120 women per week are killed in Afghanistan, so that would be 6240 per year, over the last 5 years, that would be 31,200 total dead women. But your sign says more than 4,000 dead, how many more before we stop Bush and Halliburton. Your math doesn't work!!! They are just crazy.

But you are right, they write these things to try to get new recruits to their cause, and unfortunately, so many fall for this without thinking about it.

JB

Bless you and your wife. Bullet is the same with me and I am that with him. He even teases me that he has yet to find the lo-jack that I put on him in crowds because he searches around for me and when he finally finds me I am already looking at him smiling with a look of what took you so long!

I remember yrs ago when I was in a bad sit (it had to do with a bunch of drunk Marines at the AF O'Club) I screamed across the room his name, and he will tell you it was the pitch in my voice that he knew to run to me when he saw me. He not only ran, but he grabbed a buddy and said Pima is in trouble. It was not a pretty sit., the drunk Marines on TDY then began to bump chests with Bullet and a guy named Bruno. No exaggeration it was 2 against 10. I ran and I mean ran behind the bar waiting for the chairs to fly. Tony, the mgr was behind the bar and he turned to me and said Pima what are you doing? I pointed to Bullet and Bruno, he runs around me and tells the Marines you are cut off, leave. The mgr knew us and kicked them out before any punches were pulled. This happened at 8 p.m., not midnight!

Let me also state that they were so drunk playing crud, that the Marine ref unzipped the bottom of his flight suit when he shimmied up to the Crud table to ref. The entire game was played that way and when it was a certain life, he used his anatomy to call it. The AF people turned their craniums and never watched because it was a Marine VS Marine game, none of their business! They were nice hosts. It was only when they started to abuse the wives that the AF guys said step off. Now people might take that as the AF being weak, I take it that they are professionals and tempered. No harm no foul in a crud bar, enter at your own risk. Making it personal against your spouse is a different issue. These guys know when to strike and it is surgical with very little collateral damage:wink:

Nobody take it as an offense to their service, I was only defending!
