Hi,

I am a junior interested in joining the US naval academy. I have a 3.7 gpa (unweighted) and i take all almost honors/AP. I am MVP and team captain of swim team and an all American swimmer. I got a letter from the swim team. I also do chess club and I am part of Math honors society. Hopefully this year, Icould qualify for the finals at the American Math Competition.

However, my class rank is really low:frown:. Freshman year I got a B in ceramics and my class rank dropped significantly. I have done many practice tests for the SAT. I am also asian, does that factor in?

thanks!

That is incorrect mdsu, according to the official calculations it would be: 47.74312395%.

how do you make that calculation or is this a joke?

well its simple. You take your credentials mix em in with everyone applying the same time as you, add some unpredictable along with a pinch of WTF and you have your answer.

btw yes they were joking

There are no "cookie cutter" midshipmen, no garunteed scores or numbers that will say yes youll get in. Do your best stick with honors/ap but no one can tell you for sure. It goes beyond grades and there a re so many factors.

Short answer: "It depends" Depends upon who else is applying and what their stats are AND.......drumroll........what the academy wants this year!

Sorry,

Didn't mean to leave you hanging. It is kind of the joke on this site to give out irrelevant percentages when people ask "What are my Chances." We just can't tell you. What we can help you out with is things like: what am I not doing that I should be, how can improve my "whole person" score for the board. There is just too much competition, especially since the acceptance stats change every year. A person that was accepted last year may not necessarily get accepted this year. Do your best to make your application look the best you can. Make sure that, if you somehow get a rejection letter, you couldn't have done anything else. Good Luck on your app.

thanks guys, i will try to make my application the best i possibly can!

No one can tell you your chances. Just what you need to do to be more "competitive" or whatever. ALOT of things factor in.
