I'm so excited!! Inside my mailbox today, I found a West Point Letter of Assurance!!! I'm super excited and really relieved!! I was starting to get worried... like they say - hard work pays off!! :thumb: If you're still waiting and hoping for a LOA, don't give up hope, you still have plenty of time! Maybe we can start a list on this thread of 2014 class LOA's! I'm soo excited about going and hope to meet future classmates on here! Good Luck to everyone who is hoping for an appointment!

Congrats on the LOA, that is a big accomplishment. Good Luck at West Point next year. Go classes of 2014

Later,

Brian

I hesitate to say this, lest I am accused of being a little black rain cloud...but I do want to remind you all that the goal is an appointment, not an LOA. If you have already received a nom and have cleared DoDMERB and have passed the CFA, then it is a "done deal." However...until all conditions of the LOA are satisfied, you are not assured an appointment. Stay on course, and your appointments will be arriving soon...but make sure you dot all the i's and cross all the t's along the way. :thumb:

In other words: Keep working just as hard as you were before you got the LOA. The battle is not over until you take that oath at trophy point. Keep up the good grades, don't get in legal trouble, and don't get hurt.

Congratulations! :thumb:

I have DODMERB and CFA results already complete and on file. The conditions are getting a nomination and keeping grades up. I'm just glad to have made it this far, not everyone is so lucky. I am just thankful!

Jezzie,
Congrats! Make sure to apply to all Nom sources.

That's great. Now you can focus your attention on the nominations. Start brushing up by studying possible questions they could ask you (why do you want to go? what sets you apart from everybody else? obstacle you have overcome? leadership example?) and try a few practice interviews. Don't do it with a friend, do it with a teacher or someone else who knows how to conduct a real interview such as the one you will encounter.

That's great! My son got his LoA from USMA but hasn't finished his Nom apps yet. Best of luck and keep up the good work.

Thank you America's Finest. I have been working on that over the summer and had interviews that were part of the selection process for different leadership camps I went to. That really does help alot to get use to it! I actually think interviewing is kinda fun!

My best friend and I have a long time competition over who will rank #1 or #2 in our class so that should help me stay very motivated over my grades. I do need to get serious about my running though!!

All the advice I have been reading on this site helped me very much and I am thankful to so many of you!!! Once I can say I have an actual appointment I hope to return the favor to the next upcoming class.

That's what I'm doing. Giving back after receiving a lot of information. I enjoy it though.

And I was nervous for my first MOC interview but the second and third were easy since the sense of not knowing what to expect was gone and I became really comfortable.

America's Finest: how is this year going for you so far?

Congrats Jezzie! My son got a LOA a few weeks ago, and would probably kill me if he knew I was on here. I wanted to say thank you to all that post the information on this forum. I find it very helpful as a parent of someone who is going through the process.

Not the right board, but my son got his LOA to Navy! (As a USMA grad, I tend to read these boards too!). Two of his friends (that he met at the different summer seminars this past summer) have received LOA's to West Point. So far I haven't heard of any official ones (not counting football players who were "promised" a slot) from AF, which is the one he's really hoping for. Congrats and good luck!

Thank you marciemi and potentialparent for your good wishes and good luck to your sons. I'm thinking its time to start training more seriously and get in the best possible shape before beast!
