My senator's maximum essay length is 500 words and my representative's is two pages. What I have written is only 350 words. Do you think I should write more or is it okay to be that far under the required lengths?

ok,

This has been covered before. Your senator is asking for a 500 word essay..... need I say anymore? Why don't you start now learning how to follow simple instructions. You need to write a 500 word essay, NO LESS. If your senator receives an essay from you that is 350 words, I can almost guarantee that you will not get a nomination. Your choice, but follow instructions on everything that you are doing on your app and nom's.

I do believe that you misunderstood my question. I stated that 500 words was the maximum. I feel like I have covered the necessary material but I do feel like it still may be too short. So my question was will the nominating committee feel like I did not put enough effort into it or will they see it as more of a sign of confidence that I don't need to put extra fluff in?

They just give a max and no min? That is probably pretty good, although I would at least try to get it over 400. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Have you had your ALO review your essay? Our ALO requested to review all essays before submission.

I do agree 350 might be light, but if you got to the point and feel you have expounded as much as you can before adding statements since I was 6 watching an air show in the rain at XXXX AFB I knew that this was my destiny, than keep it the way it is.

Are rude replies like this really helpful? Perhaps if this is the best someone can do, they should leave it to others to answer the questions posed here and they should be working on adjusting there 'better than you' attitude.

PVHS,

BSA did back down when he had more facts. SO let's not turn this into a flame war.

The reality is we can not discern the tone from the poster and it is important to understand that fact.

This site is not known as a combative forum, but I must admit this yr, it does seem that the candidates are not showing camaraderie among their peers.

Let's try to tone it down a notch. The old rule of thumb read your post over again before you hit submit should be a lesson for all of us.

I do apologize for my post. I misread what IrishDancer had originally said . There have been many people that come on here and ask if it is ok to write less than the mins requested for their essays. I believe that that is absolutely unacceptable. I didn't mean to sound rude at all. I just get a little annoyed when some people come on here asking questions that their MOC has clearly covered (which IrishDancer did not do) like: "can i write a 100 word essay when the min is 500, that is just following instructions." I am sorry Pima, I would really love for there to be an amazing friendship between all the candidates on this site. That is the main reason that I originally registered, to make friends that I might meet next year. I am sorry to everyone if I have been disrupting the camaraderie between the candidates.

BSA,

You have no need to apologize, my comment was not directed at you. I have seen you mature in a positive way over the past 3 months. You are quickly becoming someone that gets the military bond, just keep remembering that the military is a team, nothing gets done without everyone working together...Top Gun Maverick will not help you at all.

I am seeing a trend, and that is everybody is getting close to meeting nom boards so your are all sensitive. Remember your dream will not end if you do not get into an SA, it ends when you throw in the towel...Colin Powell was not an SA grad, just imagine how many hurdles he faced as a black officer commissioned through OTS (I think he was OTS, but maybe he was ROTC) in the 60's. If he can make it to JCS so can all of you regardless of your commissioning source.
