On my online application, my status says Candidate. I thought I was a Pre-Candidate. I do not yet have a nomination. I just want to understand the stages of the application process. Any help...thanks

If you look online at the USAFA application, in small print at the bottom of the first section (Application Status) it defines "prospect", "applicant" and "candidate".

*When you submit your application you become a "Prospect." When USAFA processes your application you become an "Applicant." Should USAFA deem you competitive and/or you receive a nomination, you will become a "Candidate." Note that you may receive a nomination and still not be deemed competitive by USAFA.

Also, once everything is submitted the line below status will show "Complete"

Well, I did get the online application packet, and I have my medical and optical exams scheduled for this week, and had my 1st interview with ALO yesterday. I had noticed that on my online application it says status is Candidate,, and I thought he said I was precandidate. Just wondering if everyone's says they are in the Candidate status if they are in the process of completing all paperwork....any help appreciated

Mine says candidate, but I have a presidential nomination. Maybe they have "deem[ed] you competitive." Call your admissions counselor if you really want to know. Sounds like a good thing to me, you are one step closer (Prospect, Applicant, Candidate, Appointee). Good Luck on your app. I hope you will be there next year.

Candidate as well

My son's online application says "candidate" as well. However, the Academy still shows it has not received his transcript, senior schedule, and school profile although it was mailed by his counselor two weeks ago, and it still has not processed his fitness test despite submitting the numbers on August 29. We keep hoping to see check marks in those last two boxes indicating a complete application. I imagine the Academy is getting hundreds of applications each week at this point.

My son's online application says candidate as well, as has for awhile, but I'm not sure when it changed. I believe after he switched from the Summer Seminar format over to the precandidate format. He did get a letter in the mail from them at about the same time saying he was "competitive" or something similar.

As of this morning, for the first time, finally, his whole application shows as complete! :thumb:

I know what you mean. My activities and personal data was submitted on 8/28 and not processed yet.

Still waiting on my school to send my other info out..I went into the office to bug them today, and had to sign a waiting list because of the scheduling disaster:yllol::yllol:

And the internet was down all day so my teachers couldn't get their e-mails...pretty rough day.

Mine said Candidate the first time I checked it, and just didn't know if anyones ever says precandidate or if they all say candidate. I still have things that are in the process of being submitted, but was a little confused as to the status. Did anyone's ever say precandidate?

Son heard from Admissions counselor last week that they were moving offices and updates were delayed due to move.

Keep the faith!

My son's has also said "Candidate" for some time. He had his ALO interview last week and within 2 days the status changed to "Complete". I'm actually amazed at how quickly things are being done by USAFA and his ALO!

The first candidate evaluations (Form 4060) were due this month, early. And the AFA want's those folks' packages complete as quickly as possible because we're only going to get busier from here on out!!!
