Here's the scoop.
BGO information system use to indicate only USNA applicants. Now we also receive names on BGIS for those who may only be applying for NROTC.
We make a contact call and determine what their goals are and also share information about USNA.
As far as the two processes "sharing" information, it appears that the only information carried between the two applications are things like name, address, school, etc. (Your base information)
You will have to complete the essay and forward recommendations, transcripts, etc. as well as the documents specific to the NROTC application process. You will also have to interview with one of the officers in your area. (You'll all be pros at interviewing by the end of this process!) Many of you will just have to tweek your essay and remember to insert NROTC in place of USNA
Teachers too, often use the same recommendation, PLEASE remind them there is a difference between NROTC and USNA. (you wouldn't believe the essays seen that were intended for USNA but state, USMA is my #1 choice; oops)
DoDMERB will apply once you have RECEIVED notification that you are awarded a scholarship.
