does anyone know how long it takes once you contact your AO about an interview until the interview takes place? Thanks.

I contacted my AO around October 1-2nd by email. He emailed back a few days later and said someone would call soon, but I haven't heard anything yet.

After you request an admissions interview, it is sent by your Admissions Officer to the AAP State Coordinator in your state of residence.

The State Coordinator will then assign a local AAP who will contact you to arrange the interview.

Once you are assigned to a local AAP, it may take a few days before they arrange a location and call you.

The interview will be "in-person" (no phone interviews).

AAP interview reports (for early action candidates) must be received by the Admissions Office by November 15th.

If you attended AIM and was truly impressed where the USCG moved to the top of the list should you still schedule an interview?

Not sure what you're asking? Are you saying that the cadre were "truly impressed" with you're performance at AIM, hence you have no need to interview? -officer

An admissions interview is an excellent opportunity for you to learn more about the Academy, and for the Academy to learn more about you.

The interviewer may discuss a number of topics including, but not limited to, your interest in the Academy and in the Coast Guard, your aspirations for college and the future, and your level of preparation for the Academy experience.

Interviews are optional, but recommended.
