Hello, this is Hwansu Park from Virginia.
I am posting this thread to ask you experts about whether I am qualified to
apply. The school websited says that I must be a U.S. citizen in order to apply.
However, I don't have U.S. citizensihp. I came to the United States three
years ago from South Korea, and I am in the process of getting Green card.
I am junior right now, and I am not sure whether I will get Green card before I go college. I really want to go to West Point University, and also want to serve in U.S. army. I also think that I am a qualified student. I have 4.3 GPA and around 2100 SAT socre, and I play in both D1 travel soccer team and school varsity soccer team. I am also doing many clubs and community services.

Can non-U.S. citizens apply, and if they can, how hard is it?

You need to be a citizen to apply.

You can go to a different college and apply from there once you gain citizenship.

USMA has cadets from several nations. Can you apply through your country of citizenship to attend West Point?

You can apply, but you don't currently qualify for admission. Having a green card is not the same as citizenship. You must be a citizen in order to be an officer in the US Army. Sorry...

Now the people who represent their country and apply for admission into a service academy, they get their training and go back to serve as an officer in their respective country. Is this correct?

Yes, they serve as officers in their military.
