I know this past summer the Academy was hit pretty hard with swine flu, would they recommed that the current cadets or incoming cadets get this shot?

ALCOAST 582/09 mandates 100% active duty personel compliance (includes all current USCGA cadets) with the H1N1 immunization program by 1 Dec 09.

As no appointments have been awarded at this point (there are no "incoming cadets") and the required immunization list has not been published for the class of 2014, there is no requirement or recommendation.

And by June 28, 2010 (R-Day) the H1N1 may be gone and a new strain might here instead.

You really should get vaccinated as soon as you can - regardless of academy recommendations or regulations.
