Does anyone know if KP mids are eligible for government airfares?

Check with your specific airline that you book with but I agree with Username, from what we found, they need to provide proof of being active duty. When they are on official orders doing travels on sea year, they do get the $break$ including luggage fees but must show their orders upon check-in.

I forgot about the luggage thing. The reserve ID is usually more than enough to get out of paying for that .

To qualify for the government rate you are supposed to be on official travel orders. I'm currently active duty and do not qualify unless on TAD/PCS/etc. There are however, some hidden discounts for people in the military. American used to have some (might still) as well as many other airlines to help military members get around to see their loved ones on leave.

You can also sometimes get a hotel room at the "government rate" by showing your ID, but again it is supposed to be for those on orders. You also have to be careful with hotels because I have seen several instances where the government rate is more than their regular rates.

Always ask what kind of military discounts they have. Even when not on orders, sometimes they give military rates when on leisure travel. I have never been asked for orders usually just ID is enough. Just don't say it's official travel if its not.

Has anyone ever had their kids receive the government rate for airfare while they are at one of the Service Academies since they are considered Active Duty?

Oops. My bad.
I'd forgotten that I was on the USMMA forum when I was replying. USMA cadets are active duty and I was really wondering about them.
