My son got the same call from Cardin's office, cancelling his interview for this Saturday, since he got a USMA nomination from Senator Mikulski's office. He discussed with them that he was not yet decided as to USMA versus USAFA, but they stated that they would not interview, since he told them in his package that his number one choice was USMA. I understand the numbers issue, and that there are a lot of talented applicants, but still seems a little harsh to not even give the interview.
We are hoping for a USAFA nomination from Rep. Kratovil's office.
I work on Capitol Hill, and know how busy the MOC's staff are, and now after going through this process with my son, I strongly believe the whole thing should be in the hands of the academies. Give them some selection criteria and let them admit the right candidates.
