I am applying to The Citadel as well as a few of the ROTC scholarships. However, I am also in the process of applying to the USCGA, in which I was sent information reguarding the DODMERB part of my application.
Here is my current status
Date Event Code(s)
14-OCT-09 Application Added
14-OCT-09 Date applicant entered into DoDMERB system
16-NOV-09 Date letter sent - Remedial R152.32, R160.00, R240.00
16-NOV-09 Date exam reviewed
This April I was experiencing breathing problems during my late track season and was later diagnosed with a form of asthma, exercise induced.
As it stands this is a disqualification, but instead of immediately getting disqualified I see that a few remedial(s) have been requested to further the DODMERB process.
R152.32 Applies to the FARNSWORTH LANTERN or FALANT test in which my colorblindness may be salvaged into flight status, a major consideration of mine.
R160.00 Requires me to provide all my medical history, pretty self explanatory.
R240.00 Basically the same thing as R160.00 - These two are in my opinion to get a better understanding of what my problem is in lung function.
My question is, should I be worried? I knew from the start that getting any sort of medical clearance for asthma would be a trip and a half. I was wondering if anyone could shed light on this situation and help me better understand just what it will take to either get "Qualified" or receive a waiver for this problem. I am worried that all of my training and preparation in High School will be for nothing if I am medically disqualified.
After reading a lot of the stories on these forums I understand just what everyone is going through in order to get accepted and qualified.
I am dead set on a military career and will do what is requested of me to get to where I want to go. Thank you.
