Bill on Spouse's rights...

It's about time.
Choosing your own State of Residence was/is an odd system though- at one point my Grandmother had my Uncle, Me, My two brothers and two cousins all claiming her home in Florida as our home of record (who the heck was gonna pay income taxes to Massachusetts if you didn't live there!) I'm sure that the Mailman and the Florida DMV were most confused- sure were a lot of us in that one small house in Volusia County!

Bruno, you had 2 cousins, 2 brothers and an Uncle along with you in the Military all at the same time?

More than that- wife and brother in law as well. I always meant to send a letter to the white house on behalf of my grandmother- I figured it was worth a signature and a thankyou - her 2 sons were career military officers (navy & uscg)and one daughter who married a career army officer; and the next generation had 6 army officers (3 now retired, 1 kia, and 2 who resigned after 8 yrs), 2 career navy officers; plus 2 spouse Army officers ( my brother in law now retired from army and my wife who is about to start year 30 of an active duty/ reserve career that has included almost 30 months in afghanistan ). I guess that is why I am often surprised by how little people know about the military as almost everyone I know since I was a baby drew a paycheck for a long time from uncle sammy.

I imagine with far-flung deployments that coordinating family reunions is difficult.

I have a very small family and way less in the milirtary: me in the USMC (a hundred years ago...), my Grandfather (deseased now, survived in WWII 1942 to 45, Army Staff Sergeant in the Pacific) and an Uncle in Viet Nam and then on to the Secret Service. The rest are first generation Americans.

I have a copy of a newspaper article that named my Grandmother "War Mother of the Year". She had 6 sons serving in WWII at the same time.

Now that must have been hairy- she must have been a stressed out woman. She certainly deserved that salute.
