Anyone know where i can find a list of all the service selections at usna?

Just tying to find out some more about this, any information will help. Thanks!

What specifically do you want to know? Men and women who are not NPQ (in other words, are physically qualified for unrestricted line) must choose that (with one exception). That means, you must choose surface line, subs (currently males only), USMC, or aviation (pilot or NFO, USN OR USMC). Men can also choose SEALS and EOD. There are variations on these (e.g., nuc surface). The one exception is that men and women can select the medical school option -- but that is a complicated process available to at most ~25 students/year. A tiny handful (1-3 per yr on average) might be able to do inter-service transfer to the USA or USAF.

Folks who are NPQ select a restricted line community such as Intel, Aviation Maintenance Duty, etc. These billets are very limited and only available to those who aren't physically able to go unrestricted line.

The number of billets available in each warfare specialty varies a bit year to year and thus, the number today may or may not be what you are looking at 4 yrs or more from now. As a general rule, the number of USMC billets will increase -- currently about 25% of each class goes Marines and that may increase to 33% over time.

Your service selection is based on a combination of your desires, your order of merit, and the needs of the USN/USMC -- not necessarily in that order. Typically, the higher your order of merit, the more likely you are to get your first choice. However, you could be "voluntold" to choose a certain service selection or that organization may not want you (e.g., SEALs).

I think they are only interviewing Women at the Academy for their "interest" in SUB. According to recent articles Women have been approached regarding Boomer deployment not that they will be selected. Some went Summer out of Kings Bay. As far as I know EOD is still restricted as is SEAL. I think you meant "not allowed"?

Not boomers. They were approached for SSGNs which is still a big boat with a better family life than SSN (fast attacks) but they don't carry the nuclear missile. The SSGN is the boat that most people who get sub-drafted want. Its bigger with more regular deployments like the boomer but doesn't hide at the bottom of the ocean for 6 months at a time. Women have not been asked about or allowed to select (whichever the case may be) the SSN or SSBN (boomer).

Women can go EOD.

Roger that, have a USNA '10 sponsor daughter who is EOD-bound.

Also have sponsor daughter who service-selected Navy air but is on "interest list" for subs, when and if all comes together in the coming year. I have heard from alumni sponsor family that women in SWO nuke schoolhouse pipeline have also been asked to indicate if they are interested.

I think the Boomer only does 6 knots to nowhere for 3 month stints.

I've always heard 6 months on 6 off. With blue and gold crews alternating on the same boat. They may not be underway for 6 months. My LT is a fast-attack guy I'm pretty sure 15th company's CO is fast-attacks too and those are the only sub officers I actually know so I can't guarantee any info on that community.

Miserable either way, which is why they have to draft people. Thank god for prk.

It's actually pretty funny if I went to USNA i wouldn't mind subs....if I couldn't get aviation.. Command a sub by 42? nice

Right. Have you spent any time on a submarine and/or flying a plane? That'll change your mind.

You're probably still in high school, so you have time to figure things out.
