The only thing I'd also recommend is calling and talking to your congressman personally (well, his staff!). Depending on your district and how competitive it is, there still may be a chance, especially for MMA. My son did his interview last Saturday for our congressman and they told us they only had 11 qualified applicants that they were interviewing total for the 4 academies! Now we're nowhere near the East Coast, and I doubt more than one or two candidates were asking for MMA, if that. So if they hadn't submitted the names yet already, and thought you were a viable candidate, they might consider adding you to the slate.
Not trying to get your hopes up because this will vary greatly by region, but I'd certainly say it would be worth the cost of a phone call to find out just in case! Good luck!
