Has anyone heard anything from the early board? We are in 8th district I think (includes Texas).

I'm in Illinois and submitted my application in August-- have not heard anything though.. getting anxious

Son just got call from Capt today...awarded NROTC Marine Option. Stated that is still had to go to National Board to determine school choice, but was a "done deal" otherwise.:smile:

Waiting on UNSA, but sure is an easier wait now!

Congrats SETXDad to you and your son! Good luck with the USNA acceptance. :thumb:

Congrats SETXDad,

I hate to bring up an old post but it is better than double posting, I would like to know my chances of getting the NROTC scholarship - marine option.

I have a 4.022 GPA, 1120 SAT (took December SAT - Lets hope for better :)) I was co-captain of my cross country team for 2 years, 4 years participation and also participated in track for 3 years. Our cross country team went to state collectively this year. I am in the beta club, and worked part time on my grandfathers farm during the spring, summer, and fall (4 years).

I took my PFT and scored a 264, my interviews also went well.
If anyone can gage me on my competitiveness for this scholarship it would be much appreciated.

Thank you,
Gause10

Gause10, my son's PFT, GPA and sports/activities were very similar (X-C and track as well), but SAT was 1280. Upping that SAT in the Dec test would help. Keep plugging!

Gause10,

My PFT scores were very similar and so was my gpa /SAT cores. I found out last week that I received the scholarship. Just waiting to hear what school it is to. Im sure you will get it.

Thanks guys, this helped ease the stress of waiting and hoping tremendously. Lets hope I do better on my SAT this go around.

I will be at The Citadel next year (recieved my LOA), and if all goes well I will be under a USMC contract.

-Gratz to you too Us

Don't forget that The Citadel has a better than average chance of one of their ROTC unit's picking you up for a 3.5 year scholarship. Then the 3 year and on down the line.

Good luck, The Citadel is a fantastic school, I suggest scheduling an overnight visit.

Were any of you that recieved the scholarship notified by mail, or did you just find out from your point of contact? If I'm understanding correctly, the only people that know if they've gotten the scholarship right now are the ones who have asked their district's officer.

Not notified by mail but by phone from Marine Corps Recruiting Officer (Capt). Still nothing new on NROTC scholarship status site and its been almost two weeks. And still don't know what school , but he indicated that would come by mail soon. Waiting patiently.

That makes me feel a little more at ease. I was told that letters would arrive shortly before Christmas Day so I won't stress until then.

My capt. said that they're deciding which school i will get the scholarship to so i should here around christmas.

Hmm...?

Well, my status for my Marine Option on the website has been saying "At the board for review...items waiting to be processed: Officer Review." I know that I completed everything but my status has not changed for almost two weeks! Should I be worried guys? Have any of you guys heard anything?

Son's status has not changed for two months...still says waiting for "officer interview". He was notified by phone of scholarship awarded three weeks ago. My guess is the Marine Option candidates do not get the same frequency of web status update the regular NROTC candidates get.

I was notified by phone on Dec. 4th that I recieved the scholarship.

I called my Capt. two days ago with the same question about my status not changing. He told me not to worry because after your selected they have to pick what school you get the scholarship too. He said I should be recieving a package soon with all the completed info. (not sure how long soon is)

So my advice is dont worry to much. Work on completing the DoDMERB if you havent already.

well

Well.. My Capt. said that he has not heard anything - go figure- I read on and found out that some had heard of their status from DoDMERB. How do I utilize this?

For those that are service academy candidates (USNA, etc), they should already have a DodMERB account setup. You can check your online status there and see if it notes a request from ROTC to schedule you for med exam. Thats an indicator that you will be offered a scholarship! But if are not an academy candidate, you probably don't have a DodMERB account yet to check. Checked my son's today and no change there yet, although he's already been notified by phone only a few weeks ago.

I recieved all the forms i have to fill out for the DoDMERD the other day and if you get those forms you definetly got the scholarship. I suppose you could just email Mr. Mullen giving him your name and last four digits of you ssn and he will check for you
