I was told by the PMS at my boy's 2nd choice school a few minutes ago that the date for the 3rd board is January 11th. But as we all know that could change. If any one else gets more info or can confirm this date please advise.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THAT MADE THE 2ND BOARD AND THEIR PROUD PARENTS!
Your on your way to be a SOMEBODY not just a ANYBODY!

My son's 1st choice of schools told us the 3rd board date is Dec.30.

Based upon the first 2 boards, my prediction is that the board will meet the week of Jan 11 to build the OML list from new applications and contact the units with the request for yes/no from the units. They'll merge them the week of the 18th and with the letters from the 2nd board due right before that, they'll know how many scholarships are still at the various schools and use that week to put together the scholarship offers. Posting should happen around the 25th of January.

They are running behind original schedule, but needing to wait the 30 days for existing offers to be accepted or expire, they can't push us the dates any further.

I was also told 30 December by my "point of contact" at CC. It looks like I wasn't picked this month as my status hasn't changed; good luck to others who are waiting again.

We're still waiting as well - you're not alone!
Congrats to all those who got a wonderful early Christmas present -:thumb:
and for the rest of us--- well, let's hope for a wonderful start to 2010.... with some scholarship news!

For those that received the AROTC offer in the mail, what date do you have to send in your acceptance by? goaliedad had mentioned they need to have those in before deciding on scholarships for the 3rd board, and there seems to be different information out there on when the 3rd board date is.

We were told by the school that a decision had to made by mid-February which is months before the school grants admission so the ROTC candidate would be rolling the dice on admission. This may not be a big deal depending on what school you are applying to. For example, a college with a 60% acceptance rate is probably a safe bet but a college with a 25% acceptance rate may be a risk. Sometimes you can switch your ROTC scholarship to another school but there is no guarantee.

son's arotc reply date is 1/17/10. Son will have to take the school that he's already been accepted to and then see what happens for acceptance to 2nd school in March.

Goaliedad is speculating about whether the students that were just notified about being awarded scholarships need to respond before the next board can award additional scholarships. However, my daughter's response date on the AROTC scholarship paperwork that arrived today is January 17, 2010. Hope that helps.

I have my son's letter here but he's not home. I'm trying to call to get permission to open his mail :)

I recieved permission in advance to open any ROTC mail and to text the results to her phone (which she has been checking about 10x daily). I'm sure your son will be excited.:thumb:

stick the envelope in the freezer. The seal will pop open easier. then you can read it, reseal it ... but make sure your son's name and address shows up in the envelope window when you put the letter back in....

not that I would do that

...not that I would do that
You sound like my wife and mother-in-law. :yllol::shake:
If it is a yellow envelope with:

College
Scholarship Offer
Dated Material

in huge letters in the bottom right quadrent of the envelope,
I'd say it is what you've been waiting for!

Permission has been granted. It reads the same way...must accept NTL 1/17/2010. First choice school was not listed. The school said they would work on it, not to worry. Four schools listed, one in-state, two out-of-state, one private.

LOL

This thread is almost as funny as the CGA Thread of Stalking the Mailman for EA...and throw the east coast storms into the mix.

Good Luck to all.

The realty is dozens of letters like these are lost every year and some poor kid is sitting at home in Tarzan Creek, Arkansas wondering where in the dickens his letter could be.

11 Bravo -

11B- Comments were not intended to be negative. I replied to the wrong entry. Intended to be the one about putting the letter in the freezer. I totally agree that this is important to each of us and in a positive way I find it funny.

If letters are lost we still have the DoDMERB website and the GoArmy Status to rely on. Those following the forums are at an advantage in following the process.

No, no, I was LOL at your post. I was poking fun at the US Mail.

I too recieved my letter in the mail today. However many days later the DODMERB site still says there is no application matching my SSN and date of birth. Anyone having similar problems?

Time to start a thread in DoDMERB forum and send an email (with name, issue and last four of SSN) to Mr. Mullen...
