Nomination

This morning, the day after Christmas, i received a letter from my Congressman's office stating that i have received a Congressional Nomination. I'm very excited. Anyone else waiting on nominations, good luck to you.

My son got his nomination but we are still waiting to see if he is accepted? is there any communication between the congresswoman and the academy? What are the odds that with the nomination and with his west point sls that he could be turned away?

Your congresswoman will inform USMA that she nominated your son. If WP decides to offer an appointment, they will let your congresswoman know, and she will most likely know before your son -- I've heard many instances of the MOC calling the candidate to congratulate them on their appointment before the actual appointment offer comes in the mail. Other than that, I believe there is no communication between the MOC and academy.

If your son was accepted to SLS, he is most likely academically qual'd and academically competitive, so I would say he has a good chance of being offered appointment. But it really depends on how competitive your area is, and how competitive the other people nominated by your congresswoman are, so none of us here really know.
