Son received a congrats email from the NROTC unit at his first choice school, however nothing in the Mail, or website yet. Any idea how long it takes for the mail and NROTC web site to come up to date?

The web updates and US mail notifications have varied considerably during the last month. Usually about a week or two but with the holidays the timing is probably off.

The important things is: Congratulations to you and your son! If your NROTC unit is sending you congratulatory emails then the news is GOOD and it is only a matter of time before the big yellow envelope arrives.:thumb:

Congratulations to you and your son!

It is so great that the recruiter at the NROTC unit at your son's first choice school was checking the list and getting the news out!

My son saw it on the website first, and that night, his local recruiter called. The letter followed a week or two later. Considering the holidays, it is great that your son got word this week!

So, just relax and enjoy! Lots to celebrate! :thumb::thumb:

Obligation

I recently recieved an NROTC scholarship to SUNY Maritime. However, I also have full appointments to King's Point and the Coast Guard Academy. The NROTC packet says that I have to sign and return forms by January 4. On the sheet it also says that by accepting the scholarship now it does not obligate me to attend the program. Just want to double check and confirm that this is non-binding until I make my final decision.

It is non-binding. Good luck with your decisions, sounds as though you have a few good schools to choose from.:thumb:

My daughter's website changed first (Nov. 25th). She got calls and emails the following week from the NROTC guy at Texas A&M (her first choice) but she didn't get her packet from Pensacola until a couple of days before Christmas.

My status changed to accepted to the Cal Unit on Nov 25 (same as the above ^^) and an hour later my recruiter called. I received my information in the mail Dec 20 (nearly a month later). I never received an email from the Cal Unit.

Also as another tidbit to fellow prosepective NROTC midshipmen, if you request to change your unit you can just email NROTC directly from your web portal link and the change happens usually the next day. You get a letter in the mail two weeks later saying that said change occurs. It is much improved over the previous snail mail system :)

I'm now in the Duke Unit, hope to see some of you next fall!

How / where do you access your "web portal link'?

On NROTC scholarship site when you log on to check you status....once the screen has been updated to reflect college choices, it lists ways to change your school. One of them is via email.

Don't know yet what the screen looks like AFTER you receive your scholarship and THEN want to change schools... ;)

Ohhh...OK. The web portal link is actually the scholarship status page. Thanks singaporemom.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting USNA2014 post, but it sound as though he requested a change AFTER receiving his scholarship. Anyway, this is what the scholarship status page says about school assignments after you've been awarded a scholarship:

NOTE: Any change to school assignment must be approved by NSTC (Naval Service Training Command). Your request must be in writing and provide justification for the change. Send to:
NSTC OD2
250 Dallas Street Suite A
Pensacola, FL 32508-5268
or FAX (850)452-2486
or EMAIL PNSC_NROTC.scholarship@navy.mil

NSTC will consider each request for change on its own merit, and will base its decision on the needs of the Naval Service, programmatic factors such as Unit size, cost and curricular programs offered and your justification. Requests for change should be submitted at the earliest opportunity.

I think USNA2014 is talking about the scholarship status/notification page. The email you noted is the same on son's status page.
