MDmom2014 - DS was invited and attended CVW in the fall, great experience for him. Hope your daughter enjoys her experience as well.

We've been wondering what's going on with Sen. Cardin's January interview date. We have not heard anything either.

Son received nomination from Cong. Hoyer just after Christmas, and we wondered if he was taken off Cardin's list because of that? I know senators share nomination information, but does information get passed from Cong. to Sen.?
 
DD received a letter today telling her that since she received a nomination from Congressman Hoyer she will no longer be considered for a nomination by Senator Cardin. She also was invited to a CVW just after receiving her nomination...we cannot help but hope this is another positive sign.
 
DS received a letter today - he has been selected for an interview with Cardin for a Naval Academy nomination Jan 22.

We have still not heard from Sarbanes, but given the other posts, my guess would be my son did not receive a Sarbanes nomination as he is scheduled for a Cardin interview.....?

Hmmm, now I'm wondering, Shortmom . . . Our son received a letter from Cardin's office yesterday too. He is scheduled for interview on Friday, Jan 22. He has received a nomination from Hoyer. Did you contact Cardin's office and inform them of your daughter's nomination or did they get that information from Hoyer directly?

A letter from Senator Cardin's office came in early Dec. deferring her interview to Jan. The letter instructed her to contact them if she had a nomination from any other source so she emailed and told them she had a presidential but asked if they would please consider interviewing her anyway : ) She had not yet received the nomination from Congressman Hoyer. She did not contact them again, and received no response to her email. The letter we received yesterday specifically states "it is our understanding you have received a nomination from Congressman Hoyer..."

Very best wished to your son! It's very good he had the opportunity to persue another nomination source. Makes me wonder too...hope DD isn't out of the running.

I pulled out son's letter deferring his interview with Cardin to January. Like your daughter's letter, Shortmom, it says to contact them if he receives a nomination from another source including congressman or JROTC (which our son has both).

Many believe that the more nominations received the better. It would seem to me the more nominations, the better chance he would have of the academy using one of them for his appointment. Although, he should not upset the nomination board by not following Sen. Cardin's directions either. :confused:

I did find out Congressman Sarbanes has not yet made final nomination decisions and will not until the end of January. :thumb: So, he still does have a chance.
 
I recently received a letter from Senator Cardin, stating my interview would be on the 22nd as well. I have not heard from Congressman Sarbanes either-can't wait until the end of the month.
 
After calling Congressman Sarbanes' office, I found out letters notifying us of our nomination status should reach us by Wednesday this week. I interviewed with Senator Cardin's office yesturday, and Anne Irby said they will turn in their nominations to Navy on the 29th, this Friday. Therefore, we should hear the following week, probably by the middle of the week.
 
Yes, DS was told the same at Sen. Cardin Office interview yesterday - Congressman Sarbanes had completed his slate. Again, good luck to all. DS said there were many many interviews scheduled for yesterday at Sen. Cardin's office. He said his room was only a panel of 2 people and his interview was very short.
 
My interview with Cardin was 15 minutes long, there were 5 separate rooms and it was a one-on-one interview. I saw a list outside of my room, there were 30 people scheduled for that room for the day. Unless other rooms had different times allotted, I am going to assume there were 150 people interviewed on the 22nd.

Anne Irby told me 320 applied for a nomination from Senator Cardin, and 200 listed Navy as their first choice. She did not say how many were interviewed.
 
Navygal - DS said his panel was 2 people....other panels were only 1 person? He was accustomed to other MOC interview panels of 3 or 4 people.

We had heard Sen. Cardin had 500 apps for nominations :eek: Just glad DS has a plan B, C, D...

My interview was later in the day. Maybe some of the interviewers went home? I was interviewed by only one person, and the room next to me was conducting interviews as well. There was only one interviewer in that room as well.

When I interviewed with Mikulski and Sarbanes, they both had a 2 person interview panel, so I was a little surprised myself.

500 people? Holy cow... Yeah, thank God for back up plans.
 
Our son's interview was late in the day, and he was interviewed by only one person. Like the others, it lasted maybe 15 minutes. As I waited in the outside hallway, there were many candidates coming and going. They must have had a full schedule that day.
