NROTC scholarship craziness

Ok, so I applied for an NROTC scholarship and was interviewed and had my application completed I believe in early October. The Petty Officer who did the interview said I should hear something by December. So it is January 13th, 2010 and I have yet to hear a word from anyone about anything (my status on the site says "The NSTC Selection/Placement Office has received your application" all required materials are complete, no decision has been made. I know that the scholarship selection board meets the first week and the 25th of every month to roll out a list of new scholarship awardees so my question is, what's going on with my application! The only plausible reason that I've thought of is that so far each board has passed me over to the next one (which isn't a good thing, but I guess it's not a denial either :wink:). Am I correct in assuming this?
 
My situation is the same. The board just met yesterday, and then 1/26, 2/9, 3/2, 3/16, 4/6. I dont know how long it takes for notification after the meeting since I have not heard anything either. Good luck!

I am in the same boat as you. I spoke to to the guy from the school where I want my scholarship. MY status page changed to the same thing as yours few days ago. He said this means that it will go before the next board, for the first time. I dont think that you have been passes over. Just my thoughts.

Great info! We have all been wondering about the timing of this status page. It's nice to hear from someone that spoke to a school rotc officer about this!

I have been wondering about this also, thanks for your post. My daughter's status changed about a week ago to the same thing.

We had been thinking that she was passed over by the last board, but when her status changed to this (for the first time) I started to wonder if it meant that she was (finally) going before the selection board.

Im kinda confused. Has your child's page ever listed schools, test scores, etc, or is this the first change you have seen since applying?

At first it had a status blurb about being somewhere for "final processing", with no other information.

Then it changed to show all of the school choices and SAT scores, that blurb about how selection decisions continue through April, and the Status: "No decision has been made on your application"

Then about a week ago it changed to "The NSTC Selection/Placement Office has received your application.", still with all the scores and extra info and the "no decision" status.

Hopefully the next change will be "Congratulations". :yay:
 
Son's was a bit different.

He received scholarship today, but waiting for screen to change.
 
Ok now I understand, looked today and sons page has the same thing on top of page with scores, school choices etc.
 
check DoDMERB page to see if NROTC shows up on account (If you've already started the DoDMERB process for another program) or check again tomorrow to see if website changes to scholarship offered. Today was the board.
 
We dont have DoDMERB because son only applied for NROTC. Will give it a few days and maybe he will get the congrats page:smile:. I assume the page will remain like it is if you are passed to the next selection board.
 
Yes, it appears that once you get the full page with all of your college choices, scores, contact info etc, then you are board ready.
 
My son's page has said "No decision has been made" for months.

Meanwhile he's received a number of academic scholarships that are awfully enticing. In fact, one of the schools that he applied to for ROTC has offered him a great academic scholarship based on his test scores. If ROTC doesn't make a decision about him soon he'll probably just accept the academic scholarship instead.
 
accept the scholarship! Most can be turned back later or used for room and board if ROTC comes through. Congratulations!!

My daughter has also received quite a few merit scholarship offers from colleges and the deadlines to accept are not until at least April. When does your son need to make a decision on these scholarships?
 
The different scholarships have different dates. I know the paperwork for one is supposed to come sometime this month. He got a full-ride to one school. That paperwork is due in March, I believe.

The waiting is so hard!!!

OMg. Yes it is. I applied to USCGA last year nd got reject and I am going to another university now. I decied to join the NROTC unit here but still have to wait with the rest of you. I hate this stuff! :unhappy:
 
My daughter's was same as subdude's

Checked my daughter's DODMERB page today. It lists NROTC- nursing. From what I can tell, it was changed on 12 Jan.

For the past month, her page said "no decision has been made" Then last week it changed to "has received your application."

It still says "has received your application". But since she was also offered a AROTC nursing scholarship, she has access to the DODMERB website where the NROTC nursing is listed.

Congratulations Armywife to you and your daughter! How does Armydad feel about your daughter possibly becoming a Navy Nurse? Is your daughter also applying for AFROTC?
