Help! What do all these (and more) acronyms mean? Is there a resourse page on the web that will help with all the military--academy--acronyms?

Please share an acronym and its meaning! I'm trying to educate myself.

Thanks for taking the time!

Hey! I am a candidate, but I can help you with some of these.

LOA- Letter of Assurance: This means that the academy views the candidate as exceptionally qualified academically/scholastically and as long as they are 3Q'd with a nomination, they are guaranteed an appointment. Although you hear a lot about these, they are limited and difficult to obtain

3Q'd- Academically, Medically, and Physically qualified. Must be 3Q'd with a nomination to be considered for an appointment (not guaranteed admission but odds increase)

MOC- Member of Congress: senators and congressman

MALO- Military Academy Liaison Officer (so ALO is same??)

I also believe that there are a few threads under General Discussion: Community Info and Feedback that discuss lists of acronyms.

Hope I helped a little bit!

Thank you very much everyone! That list you linked on this forum is fabulous.

I think the correct term is Scholastically qualified, which includes much more than academics.

Haha that's what I meant! I actually typed it as "academically/scholastically", but then changed it last minute. My mistake!

coffeecup3, ALO at least for the AFA is Admissions Liason Officer. Also called liason officer- LO, or just liason.
