Has anyone received any letters of acceptance to the Summer Seminar for Air Force?

Nope - that that any of us have seen anywhere!

However, I did want to let you know to not be looking for a letter. My son last year never got any written communication until we mailed the money order and got a confirmation for that. Everything else was on the online application page - he didn't even get any emails, although I read that others said they did.

So continue to check your status online. We're two weeks past where they found out last year - have to be coming soon!

I think that's the latest that you would possibly hear. Last couple years at least it's been much, much earlier. I would certainly hope by the end of Feb at the latest, for at least some people - probably longer if you're on the "cusp" and they're waiting to decide. Thought someone else posted recently that they were told they wouldn't send any "rejection" letters out until that point (April), but that acceptances would come earlier. Guess we'll see!

Son received his email for SS the first week in February. We were both at our schools when we received it. We were both on cloud 9. My school kids had a great afternoon and knew something had changed once they got back from P.E. LOL.

SS board will convene Monday...and after that.

Well i know for sure they start sending right after the deadline. I filled out the application 2 hrs before the deadline and then got my acceptance a couple days later.

A couple of weeks ago one of the counselors told us they were hoping to start notifications early Feb. (We had called with a question about week selection.)

Given the earlier post indicating that the board would be meeting Monday, that seems to make sense.

They also indicated that the online status would change about the same time as the emails were sent.

Exciting times!

Do more applicants get admitted earlier (Feb) rather than at the end?

I know that for colleges with rolling admissions, usually the early bird gets the worm and spots get tight toward the final deadline. How about for the Air Force Summer Seminar?

Does that mean that people should start hearing after that meeting on monday?

Yes, but when the notifications will be sent out I do not know.

But the selection process will begin Monday.

Sorta, kinda, somewhat.

USAFA knows what they're looking for (range of scores, achievements, etc.) and that's what they're looking for. So will the "early bird" have a better choice than someone later?

Depends...do they have EVERYTHING that the board is looking for? If they do, then most definitely! If not...they may be pushed to the side for further review as the process grows.

If nothing else, being early gives you a better chance for the session you want. Last year the last session filled first so if you really wanted that and waited to apply, you might have been out of luck.

Just a note on our experience - my son applied for last year's SS, was notified on his online status page of his acceptance on 02/13/09, received confirmation letter in the mail about a week after that.
