So I was reading a post on here about NASS and I decided to check out if the actual application was up. It had a link and an "apply now" button, but I got some weird page. Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know what this means?

How did you figure it out? What did you do to navigate away from that page and locate the application? Thanks

If you read the message that comes up it says the application can not be accessed untill 0001 on Feb. 1. It is imposible to navigate around. :thumb:

And even if you could, would you want to start your application process with an honor violation?

Hi.

On the NASS application, are you allowed to super score PSAT results? (if you took it Sophomore and Junior year)

If there is only one entry for your PSAT scores, then yes you enter your highest scores overall, even if they were from 2 different tests.

same here, good luck to everyone who applied. Does anyone know when the first decisions are sent out? Just wondering, not trying to sound overly anxious.

Last year the first we saw any reported here on the boards was March 6th I believe.

It was mid-late March in 2008.

Good luck to all! While you're anxiously waiting, just remember that this wait isn't nearly as long as the wait for actual appointment decisions. As hard as it is to wait, try to focus on classwork, ECAs, workouts, etc. Have fun!

Since NASS apps are open, is it better to apply NOW with okay stats, or should I wait until the 11th?

The 11th is when my SAT scores will be up, and I am very confident that they will be considerably higher than my PSAT scores. Also, by that time, my GPA and class rank will be updated and I am expecting my class rank to go up as well. How much can it hurt to wait a couple weeks and how much does it help to apply really early?

Also, I noticed they didn't really ask for GPA on the application. Is there a second page to it or was that first page just it? Since I didn't really finish the application, I didn't send that first page so I am not really sure if there are more pages or not.

Thanks!

One thing to keep in mind is that the Navy app does not allow online updates like USAFA did.

When my son applied last night the "submitted" web page indicated that you have to call them to update.

Grades

Both my freshmen and sophomore years I got an A one semester and a B the other in English. So what should I put in?

If you remembered your numeric grade (87, 93, etc) you could average them and then use the numeric scale on the application. Might truthfully end up with an A!

Ex: A high A (97) and a high B (88) would average to an A (92.5)

Still have your report cards or transcript?

We were wondering the same thing. My son went ahead and did his today though. His difference wasn't SAT scores, but class rank. He has several AP classes this semester for the first time (and a higher GPA), so he's sure he's going to move up a fair amount. But decided it would be at least two weeks for that ranking, and he's still top 5% right now, so decided to go for the early application instead.

In the comments box, he filled in as much as he could - GPA, AP classes he's currently taking, ACT composite scores - things like that. Same for the box under EC's - filled in the things like "150 hours community service" and a lot of things that weren't covered in the check boxes. Especially key for him since he doesn't have a varsity sport, but does triathlon and biking and skiing so wanted to make sure they were aware of those "sports" even if they weren't high school ones.

In your case, since the SAT is SO heavily weighted, and they don't really allow updates (easily), I would hold off until the 11th. You may find out a bit later by applying a bit later, but I don't think it would have any impact on actually getting in or not. He just got his AF SS acceptance today, which is kind of a bummer since it gave only two weeks to accept or decline. He really wants NASS first, but now doesn't know if he should take AF just in case or take the chance and wait!

Personally I'd go with the highest one - no one will be checking this at all - this is all on your honor. You DID get an A in English freshmen year, right? If this was for the actual application (and then you'll have to submit a transcript so they'll know), I might be more concerned. I would give like 99 percent odds if you called and asked, they'd just tell you to put the A. But feel free to if you want and let us know!

Yeah I don't remember the numeric grades....

Your son should be able to do both NASS and USAFA SS, if he's accepted to both. The NASS application gives you the opportunity to list which sessions a candidate would definitely be able to attend. In my daughter's case, when she found that her NASS session was in conflict with the availability dates she had listed for USAFA, she contacted USAFA to let them know. Not sure if it mattered, but she was given a slot that was compatible with her NASS session. I'd go ahead and accept USAFA. If necessary, he can contact USNA to change the dates he listed on his application.
