Hi all,

I wanted to start a poll for each of our top choices right now and let that run until the mass appointments come out in March. Please only vote for the orientation you will be going to (cadets, if you are going, vote for any and all that you would like).

Orientation Dinner April 12-13
Date: April 11th
Time: TBD
Place: TBD
Sign up Deadline: April 4th

I think I will limit it to more of the nationwide chain type restaurant. If you would like to comment on the time also please feel free to do so. Here are the choices:

-Olive Garden
7815 N ACADEMY BLVD
COLORADO SPRINGS CO 80920
This has been a very popular option at least for last year. A bit of a ways from the Academy Hotel (a good 500 yards), but within walking distance.

-T.G.I Friday's
7061 COMMERCE CENTER DRIVE
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO 80919
The cadet presence here likes the 3$ Long Islands. It is pretty close to the Academy Hotel although not as close as Olive Garden, Red Robin, or Famous Dave's. Probably a good drive, whereas you could walk to some of the others.

-Famous Dave's BBQ
8330 RAZORBACK ROAD
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO 80920
I believe some people met up here last year after the olive garden dinner. It is about 600 yards from the academy hotel.

-Red Robin
1410 JAMBOREE DRIVE
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO 80920
This is another great option. It is about 450 yards from the Academy Hotel.

I just wanted to add the walking distance in case you don't have a car while you are here. I'm sure you will be able to get a ride either way, but just so you know.

Thank you,

Brian

(I'm still trying to figure out how to use the poll feature, so if this one doesn't work please be patent with me)

I voted for Red Robin just because we've always had great service at them, but I'm REALLY fine with any of them. Sounded like the cadets wanted TGI Fridays. My only concern with Famous Dave's is just the noise level - seems like it would be very hard to carry on a conversation with anyone other than the person right next to you. Olive Garden would be much quieter, with Fridays and Red Robin somewhere in between. Any of them sound good to me!

Thanks bsa07eagle

Thanks for taking the laboring oar on this. We're fine with anyplace, but I voted for Red Robbin because marciemi said he'd buy beers for all the adults...okay, just kidding on that.

Hm, and we just always go for the strawberry lemonade (which actually probably costs as much as the beer!)

Im gonna try to make it to every dinner, as long as i can get a ride.....

I wanted to bring this thread back to the top as the April 12-13 orientation is rapidly approaching. We have also gotten many more appointees on our list. It is also a reminder that I need to start organizing this with the chosen restaurant. I will begin the sign up exactly a month before each orientation(So the first will be on March 12). On the day that I post the sign up, and select the restaurant that currently most votes and begin communicating with them.

Later,

Brian

If food is served...

I'll be there.

Brian, thanks for chairing this. I don't really have a preference. A quiet place would be good.

Hi all, it looks like this orientation will end up being Olive Garden so I went ahead and called them today. They said that 4:30 starts to get pretty busy for them, but they asked us to consider 3:30 that afternoon. I know that is pretty early, but they are really trying to make this work for us. They actually remember us from last year and were really excited to have us back. If that is ok with everyone I will begin a sign up a week from today.

I know the other orientations still need some more votes, but they also mentioned having us for all 3 weekends of orientation (I guess they know this pretty well).

Later,

Brian
