I have heard that if you recieve a nomination to one of the academies, it makes you pretty much a shoe in for the ROTC scholarship. Any truth behind this?

Thanks!

I think the truth is that if you are well enough qualified to receive an USNA nomination then you are qualified well enough to receive a NROTC scholarship. But then......I could be wrong.

IT was the other way around for my son ... he received the NROTC scholarship in the fall of 2008 and the USNA appointment in Spring 2009 ... don't know if it helped him get the USNA or not ... but it certainly didn't hurt!

Well I have a USNA nomination and I have yet to receive an NROTC scholarship. My page has said "no decision made" for around 4 months now. My guess is that it helps a lot, but when sending out money, these boards are looking for technical majors right now, and I am not.

Sometimes no news is not a bad thing ... as long as it is not a "no" you are in the pool ... good luck!

I got a nomination to USNA and have not heard back from NROTC-Marine Option. But then again, they only have two boards in November and February:yllol:

...lucky Navy Options
