So, since I don't have a MOC to get a happy/sad phone call from, I have to rely on either a letter, or a chance in CIS regarding my nomination. How quickly is CIS updated, and which one should I be expecting to see first? I'm hoping its CIS, because that's a whole lot easier to check on PAC than my barracks mailbox...

All the nominations had to be in before monday, and I'm pretty sure mostly everyone got a letter. I'd call your MOC.

It will show up on portal of the academy.....................son's was on the portal weeks before letter from nominating sources.

I don't have a member of congress. I have an Honorable Ray Mabus.

My Nomination request was submitted on time, but remember that me applying from the enlisted ranks with a (potential) SECNAV Nomination, things work a little differently. Which is why I was asking.

Why do you not have a MOC? Even as enlisted, you must have a MOC somewhere?? I am confused!

Enlisted personnel are capable of obtaining a Nomination to the Naval Academy via The Secretary of the Navy. There are 170 some odd nominations available every year. These 170 Nominations are available to any Sailor or Marine either on Active duty or in the reserves, that meets eligibility requirements.

For further information, check Ch.3 of OPNAVINST 1420.1B, which can be found HERE.

The nomination notification letter will come from the source of the nomination - in this case SecNav.
