Does the appointment show up on the portal first, or the DODMERB site or in the mail first???
 
On your portal under the "overview" tab
 
I first found out when I received a phone call from my Congressman who let me know that I received an appointment.
 
I dont think all congressmen/women call to congratulate appointees - I never got a call from my senator, so you probably shouldnt be too highly expecting a call

The best way is probably to call and ask your regional admissions officer - he/she would know before it shows up on your portal and way before you get the actual letter in the mail
 
My congressman called to congratulate me on my appointment too... however I wasn't home. My mom took the message but deleted the number off of the caller id by accident. The only number I have is the one posted on his site, which directs me to a local office; not him directly. So... should I attempt to call that number anyway? I was going to send a thank you card anyways.
 
My congressmen left a message on my house phone AND my cell phone congratulating me. (Unfortunately I was in an orchestra rehearsal, so my cell phone was off). He went to extra lengths to congratulate me, because he taught at West Point.
 
Congrats Vampsoul!! Best of luck to you as you emabark on your military career...This is a BIG honor and you should be proud...all of you hard work has proven to be fruitful for you!! KUDOS!!!:thumb:
 
alright i want to call my regional commader but i'm not exactly the best talker on the phone. I'm scared i might say or not say something and jeapordize my chances. does anybody have any tips for talking to them???
 
Have you ever talked on the phone with someone?

You could always email your regional admissions director. I know that my regional person is hard to get a hold of by phone and my MALO said he is better with email.

You won't jeopardize your chances by phone unless you say something extremely inappropriate or start cursing him out :yllol:.
Just be calm and ask them what you want to ask or about your admissions status. The worst they can say is that a decision hasn't been reached. Good Luck!!

Just be polite, say who you are, what your question is, and thank him/her. If you would prefer you could e-mail him/her, as coffeecup said, as that is easier for a lot of people. If you don't need to ask for a lot it should be quick and easy.

Kind of general tip. Since you are on the phone you can walk around or twiddle your thumbs or something.
 
haha yes i've talked on the phone before! lol i just get nervous like what to call him, sir, mr. cline, major cline, there are so many options and i dont wanna say the wrong thing.
 
I think Mr. Cline would be technically incorrect but I'm sure it wouldn't be a big deal.

He won't get mad at you with whatever you choose. Have you ever gotten an e-mail from him by chance? Usually people like to be called what they sign their letters. You could call him Major, sir, or mr., but just don't talk to him informally. I would use sir as its foolproof and you can use it for any man.
