Good luck to all who are still in the running and waiting on results from Army ROTC boards.
next 2 boards 1-5 March and 5-9 April:smile::thumb:

Thanks for starting this kydad.
I am guessing that there will not be many new applicants for the March or April boards, does anyone else think differently?

Everyone who was carried-over from the first board through the January board will be part of the March board and then the same for the April board. Unless you have been made a scholarship offer your OML score is part of the next scholarship selection.

I turned in my application and my status for AROTC is saying that i have been accepted for an interview. how many more review boards are there? and if i dont get the scholarship, will i be notified?

2 more review boards, March and April.

Will I be notified if i do not receive the Army ROTC scholarship?

In prior boards there has been no change of status on the AROTC portal if an applicant was not offered a scholarship at a board. I think you can assume that will continue through the March board. I'm not sure what happens after all the boards are done if an offer has not been made. I recall hearing in the fall that AROTC only contacts you if they will make an offer and that they do not send any type of rejection notification. Having said this, the AFROTC has sent out notifications to applicants this week who won't be considered for scholarships any more.

One thing to keep in mind for the March and April boards is that a number of scholarships may be freed up when previous winners get admission to a SA and release their ROTC scholarshps.

Our email stated:
Your application for a four-year Army ROTC Scholarship has been processed and is considered complete.
You will be informed of your final selection status no later than May 30th.

So i just have to wait and see if i get the Scholarship? and i basically have two more chances. in March and April?

The PM at our #2 school emailed my son that he was not accepted for the January board but that his chances were good for upcoming boards. I think the best way to keep informed is to have a relationship with a PM, they will keep you in the loop.

What do you mean PM? I applied for scholarships at Miami of Ohio and Bowling Green. But i did my interview at Akron University. So who would i talk to?

ablack0722, Classof2010 is right, in the tight scholarship environment this year it is key to have a personal relationship with the PMS at your target schools. If you have not been in contact, I suggest calling right away to let them know your level of interest and get a sense from them where you stand.

PMS - Professor of Military Science. Go to the ROTC websites for the schools you're interested in and there should be a list/cadre of the professors, et al. with their phone numbers and e-mail addresses. My son interviewed at SDSU, but has been in contact with one of the PMSs at UA Tucson because that's where he really wants to go to school.

Good luck to you!

Contacted 3 PMS's

After the January board came and went, I had my son e-mail the PMS's of the schools he applied to and listed on the AROTC scholarship application. He also e-mailed his Cadet Command contact but she has not yet replied. He asked for insight on the competitiveness of his application and whether the school had any open slots left. (He was accepted as a student at all of the schools, we're just waiting to see if he is awarded a scholarship.) One PMS said he had no way of telling but said to keep in touch. The second PMS gave him a comparison of his OML score compared to what he's seen for students receiving awards at his school, and also gave him some options if he doesn't make the 4-yr scholarship cut. He also provided info on his number of available or potentially available slots. The last PMS just said he was competitive and to be patient. Very different levels of responses.

We met personally with each PMS during college visits and my son spent the night with some cadets at of one the schools and followed them in their routine. So, we've heard that it's good to stay in contact but, not sure what that means. At this point, what do you say, or ask for?

:thumb::thumb:Just one week till the next Army ROTC board, just want to say good luck to all......Many of us are in the same boat, packet looks good and is complete @ CC, now we just pray and wait. Keep in touch with your PMS @ the school of your choice, they will be able to guide and help yyou if needed. Again "Good Luck" to all!!!!!!!

We're hanging in there too. Keeping in contact with #1 school PMS who says they are keeping a close eye on the list waiting for our son to be selected. The PMS and Colonel fully expect that it is just a matter of time before we hear something. They said they will be the first to call when he is.
Looking at the stats on kids that have already been selected-he's right in there.
Who knew it would be this selective this year.
Two years ago my oldest son got his scholarship in October and it was a breeze compared to this.

yeah with the economy and the more people looking for ways to pay for college, the competition is more intense. However, i was wondering what the others who haven't and have had received a scholarship. Im still waiting for a scholarship and am curious to what my competition is. If you guys could post what your gpa, act, leadership, and athletic skills are that would be great

Competition sure is fierce this year.

My son was lucky enough to have received a scholarship in this past board, but to a school he doesn't want to go to. (long story, but there were some major errors in his application. Errors and things gone wrong all along the way!) The PMS has been great and tried to get CC to change it but there is nothing to be done at the moment. Another PMS at a different school also tried so he could go there but received the same answer back from CC.
He has been told to accept the scholarship and hope that he can transfer it April or May.

My son has been lucky, he has been accepted to all of his schools. There are some who received the scholarship to his schools that have not been accepted or been deferred so it's a crazy year.

He's planning on a career in the Army and only applied for the AROTC so we are hopeful it works out for him.

Still waiting. ACT 28, gpa 3.4 unweighted, co-captain, 4yr varsity, numerous volunteer hours, several AP classes, electrical engineering major.

We do have a back-up plan to the local University, just in case.
