Objee, How many total applicants so far...

February-the "chill" month

Well folks, today is the official deadline for all materials to be postmarked and sent to the academy. I suspect we have the month of February to chill a little before we start stalking the mailman again in March. -officer

for RA consideration?

413 RA applicants so far, but we've got about ten unopened bins of mail and probably another ten bins of opened/unprocessed application items. I'm guessing that we'll definitely match the number (975) of EA applicants and most likely exceed it by the time we've opened/processed everything.

Objee, I just want to say I'll be thinking about all of you as you open all that mail. I just finished our last application review on Friday!!! Can't tell you how good that felt. While I don't think my job is anywhere near as difficult as yours, I do understand and appreciate the hard work involved!

Plus all this stuff which still needs to be processed/filed.

By February 16th we should have a final number (or close to it) of RA applicants.

Okay, this is the deal...look for a clear folder with blue trim and pick that kid(hehehe). Objee, I sincerely feel for you guys. Hang in there. -officer

Objee,

Thanks for posting those pictures. It gives us a better idea as to what things are like on your end of this process. We feel so fortunate that our son's envelope made it from boxes filled with envelopes and papers all the way to that appointment letter. Our best wishes go out to those awaiting the many more slots available for the class of 2014!

Officer,

I got a kick out of your last post. Good one!

Up to 861 RA applicants with quite a bit of paperwork still to process...hopefully we'll be finished by March 1st.

Today our DODMERB status changed for USCGA said withdrawn ugh!!! That was hard to swallow, but she accepted NAPS and had to make that decision so good luck to everyone that's a spot available for a great candidate.

Did your daughter actually withdraw from consideration at CGA or did the DoDMERB status just change without her withdrawing?

USCGA had accepted her to the Prep school and she responded back that she is not accepting because she accepted NAPS. So a few weeks ago she got a letter saying that if she wants to continue to be still be a candidate that she needed to let them know, but my daughter wanted to stay at NAPS so they withdrew her, So I am assuming they withdrew her.

Congrats to your daughter for being accepted to both NAPS and the Prep School! It shows a lot of character that she withdrew her USCGA application once she made a choice. I wish her every success at NAPS. :thumb:

SAmom,

Congrats to you and your daughter. How wonderful to have such great options!

I have to say that when I read your post (I read it a little too quickly), I almost had a heart attack, thinking that "withdrawn" meant "rejected" and I was too scared to go look at son's Dodmerb site. I thought maybe rejection letters had started to go out and that "withdrawn" might be what the site reads after you've been turned down!

Son checked site later and still reads "alternate" but the date changed again to yesterday. Of course, we don't know what that means!

Good luck to your daughter!

Thanks everyone my daughter has worked her butt off and is so excited to be part of the Navy family and being able to go to school with her brother once she gets to USNA.

It was a hard for her to let go of USCGA because she really loved it there too. I am sorry if I scared you about the status change I know this must be really hard to wait. We had alternate first that's when she was accepted to USCGA Prep. Its funny because I never knew all this was available when my son applied we just checked the mail and there it was in the mail box. I cried my eyes out because when he was a little boy we drove bye the Naval Academy and I pointed out the window and told him that one day he would go to college there and he kept that in the back of his mind all those years he said. We are very proud to be part of the Navy family even though my husband is AF lol!!! It's all the same because the US Military is one big family. Good luck to all those waiting hang in there!!!

I think I see my Son's Envelope in that bin on the far right....

My son's DoDMERB has not changed one little bit. I know if I saw it changing, I would probably be thinking that was a good thing. It's really hard not to see any action at all. -officer

I recall the feeling...hang in there. First time around we had to wait until early June only to hear that the waitlist was closed and son did not get the appt. Second time around, March was the lucky month. That is really soon! You can do it officer....deep breaths, chocolate and maybe a plate of cookies sent to CGA admissions office? lol...just kidding. Sort of....

Shellz,

Thank you. My son is studying hard and taking this all in stride. However, I do notice that he does want to go out for the mail alot more. I think he's trying to be strong for me. Your posts (past and present) are a treasure. Hope we meet someday. -officer

Objee

How's the progress? Do I need to send you some brownies? -officer

May I say that I am very thankful to not have to go through the stacks of applicants. grading essays is enough for me! Thank you to all that help with the admissions process.
