A few days ago, I received a letter from West Point stating that I am qualified academically and in physical aptitude, but that my medical status is undetermined. Today, I was notified that I received a medical waiver. I was named Principal Nominee to the First Congressional District of South Carolina. Considering that Principal Nominees are automatically given appointments if they are academically, physically, and medically qualified, am I in?

Huah - Sounds like you're in...but would not rest easy until you have "Appointment in Hand".

It's official. I just spoke with my liaison officer and he informed me that I have been appointed. Words cannot express how elated I am.

Congratulations!! Our son has an appointment to the USAFA. He received a call from his congressman last week. We are still floating on cloud nine as we patiently wait for the "official" paperwork to come in the mail.

We know exactly how you feel!! Congrats again on your accomplishment! And what a huge one it is!!!!

Thank you, everyone! I am beyond excited. My soon to be eighty year old grandmother has presumably told every resident of the small town of St. George, South Carolina of my appointment. However, my uncle, a 1958 USNA graduate, ended our conversation with "Go Navy, beat Army." I don't blame him for being loyal.

Hye Huaah - Congratulations!

I'm another one of those guys who went to the "boat school". I have a son in WP 2013. Makes for some good natured banter when he's home. He made his own choice and I could not be prouder of him.

Enjoy the rest of your time right up to R-day. Make smart choices. Stay in shape.

Congatulations Huah. My son is in the Class of 2013 and we are from SC. I noticed from an earlier post that you are playing lacrosse for the first time. Good luck. It is a great game (I am a lacrosse official). Be sure to get your parents involved in the West Point Parents Club of SC when they receive the notice. Again, congratulations!
