I was very curious as to what military schools are open for West Point cadets to attend during the summer. I have seen partial lists, but it would be nice to see a complete list. For me, Jump School would be at the top of my list of choices, but there might be other exciting schools offered. Thanks alot.

Man...too many schools I want to do...to narrow down my choices, one question: if I wanted to branch infantry(light/para), which of the combat-related schools would I less likely be able to do once in, so I could do those while at USMA?

Thanks alot, that is exactly what I was looking for. Looks like some tough choices. Expert Marksmanship course looks pretty cool, so does Combatives. Does anyone know how many course you can take during all the summers?

I think you can definitely take more than one if you can fit it into your summer.

I also heard you could be a 3rd lieutenant or a boot camp instructor? If this is correct that would be interesting.

1.Is expert marksman qualification different than going to expert marksman school? (like getting a certain score on you m4 qual)
2. Do you have the chance to qualify expert at usma? Or is that something thats done at BOLC?

That's the term I heard. You shadow a lieutenant I think. Sounds kind of odd, I know.

Ken - that was the case when I was there and as far as I know still is. CTLT (Cadet Troop Leader Training) is where you're a "third lieutenant" as you said, shadowing or working as a 2LT in a regular Army unit. DCLT (Drill Cadet Leader Training) you work as a Drill Sergeant (Drill Cadet) at an Army training base. I was at beautiful  Ft. Dix, NJ.

Thanks. Those sound like some great experiences!

I know that ROTC cadets can do some of the summer schools. Are there any that are restricted to only WP cadets?
