I am happy to see the responses to my post. It really helps with the anticipation. It's awesome that you have been accepted into NAPS HM3ACE, I am just over the age limit for that so I am currently competing for a direct appointment, good job.
Good luck to you too OS3, I am glad that I chose to become an enlisted war fighter first. It has been quite the learning experience, and has definitely aided in my pursuit to a commission.
Katrina514, before I enlisted into the Marine Corps the Naval Academy was not an option. I was a completely different person then. I have always dreamed of becoming a Marine Corps aviator but the path I was on would not have led me there. The Marine Corps has given me the experience and the personality change that has brought me to this point and I am grateful. If you are given the chance now to attend such an outstanding institution as the Naval Academy then take it. It would be better now than later. You will definitely develop into the leader that you are destined to be. Attempting to submit an application to the Naval Academy while on active/reserve duty would be much more difficult. The application process is lengthened as an active duty Marine because of the fact that he/she typically has to "prove" him/her self to their chain of command before they are able to receive the recommendations that are required from an active duty applicant. It takes time, usually once one has gone through recruit training, Marine Combat Training/School of Infantry, and occupational training then one can begin to establish rapport with his/her permanent chain of command. Please let me know if you have any other questions, I am more than happy to help.
Semper Fidelis,
Corporal Alejandro Ramos
